Dave Portnoy, head of of Barstool Sports, scored a premier interview yesterday with the president of the United States.

It’s a fun, relaxed and very authentic interview, and maybe just what we need with all the other news going on.

A lot of interviews with Trump are either antagonistic or directed toward a particular topic. So it’s nice to see a little bit of different take on interviewing him.

It’s classic President Donald Trump, having a lot of fun with Portnoy. Iconic star Mariano Rivera was also there for events surrounding opening day.

The president spoke about how people were coming together over the economic success of the country prior to the pandemic, with the lowest unemployment in fifty years, and that now it was coming back, with the stock market coming back as well.

Trump made a great point not made often enough about the pandemic – that China stopped the virus from leaving Wuhan at a certain point, indicating they knew it was contagious and a problem, but then they were still allowing flights in and out from the rest of the world, including the United States.

He also made it clear he still wasn’t a fan of kneeling and that he thought there were other means of protest.

He points out how he’s been tough on Russia, contrary to the ridiculous Democratic talking point. Unlike Barack Obama whose every move was quite flexible when it comes to Russia, As he alluded to, he has dropped bombs on their head in Syria, rebuilt our energy ability and pipelines, put more sanctions on them and provided lethal weapons to Ukraine to be able to fight Russia.

Portnoy said he wasn’t a fan of Dr. Anthony Fauci “because every time he talks and says the country should stay inside, my stocks tank.”

Trump said, “Well he’d like to see it closed up for a couple years but that’s okay because I’m president.”

Portnoy actually asked a great question, that Trump pretty much had a dream life prior to running for president, so did he ever regret doing it? That before hand, basically, everyone liked him, which was pretty much true. Then when he ran, many of the people who had previously been friendly with him were required to hate him.

That perhaps prompted the most interesting answer from Trump. That his life was great before he decided to run, but that he was very glad that he did run. He said the toughest thing to deal with was not dealing with Russia or China, but dealing with the folks on the left.

Then it was great fun when Portnoy asked if he could call his dad to prove he was with the president. His dad is not a fan of Trump. Trump was very nice to the dad as the dad was back.

The interaction showed a side of Trump that most of the other interviews don’t and for that, probably one of the better interviews that’s been done with Trump.
