Looks like not only are the Mayor and Seattle officials not going to work to clear away the Seattle anarchist zone, they are actually helping to support it staying in place and implementing the demands of the radical leftists.
First the city apparently entered into an agreement with the folks in the zone and replaced the wooden barriers that the anarchists had put up with concrete barriers. They put up wood around the barriers for the anarchists to be able to decorate with art.
HAPPENING NOW: @seattledot adding new concrete barriers in #CHOPseattle #Chaz. We’re also told a lane is being created for first responders to access the area. @Q13FOX pic.twitter.com/dKIscw5kDm

2) Barriers help prevent cars from driving into protesters (a very real threat as we have already seen), while still allowing a lane of travel for emergency responders. pic.twitter.com/qz7HYVr21F

So what about the actual residents and business owners of the area? How is the mayor addressing their concerns about police not responding to calls from the area?
As we reported earlier, one example was a Seattle business owner John McDermott called police after his business on the border of the CHOP zone was broken into by a protester who then tried to steal money and set the business on fire. But the owner and his son were fortunately able to stop the robbery and the fire. The son held the suspect who tried to cut him with a box cutter. They called 911 19 times. But because they were being threatened by other protesters they finally had to let him go. Neither the police or the fire department ever responded.
The police chief said they “observed” “from a distance.” Unbelievable.
“The officers responded to the call and they observed the location from a distance. They did not see any signs of smoke or fire or anything else and they did not see a disturbance,” Best said.
She said dispatchers and officers are coordinating with crime victims or callers to meet police on the edges of the occupied area and officers will go in if there’s an urgent situation.
The police chief had previously said that there were all kinds of violent crimes including robberies and rapes that were not being responded to.
How did the mayor respond? She said that police would not be entering the area unless they were “significant life-safety issues.”
“The Seattle Police Department’s definition of life-safety issues may include an active shooter incident, an assault, a structure fire, significant medical emergency (i.e. heart attack, stroke, trauma) and other incidents that threaten a person’s life safety,” the office of Mayor Jenny Durkan said on Tuesday.
So not only is Durkan doing everything to help install the anarchists in the area, she’s acceding to their demands of no police no matter how much that might hurt or endanger the people there, like John McDermott and his son who had to deal not only with an armed robber trying to cut him with a box cutter but threatening anarchists, while police “observed.”
The city has completely abandoned their responsibility to its citizens with this move and anyone hurt as a result of this is on them.
