Ok, I’m pretty tired of a lot of media pushing this false binary choice: stay indoors or everyone dies.

That’s not the choice. The choice is to find responsible approaches to get the economy back on its feet and back to normal as soon as possible, keeping in mind the threat from the virus, but also recognizing the threat to health of the continuing lockdowns.

Part of the problem with arbitrary “one size fits all” lockdowns is that they are not in fact, scientific or even logical. They are one prescription prescribed to all the patients, healthy or not, no matter what level of illness or what the underlying nature of the patient.

Doctors would never prescribe chemotherapy to every patient, even those who don’t need it.

Yet, that’s exactly what many have prescribed to states, focusing solely on the virus, downplaying every other threat, illness or death that could result from lockdowns.

Now former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie came out with an inconvenient truth, that as we reopen, some people are going to die. That caused some of the media to flip out.

But it’s true. Some people are going to die when we reopen and some people are going to die if we don’t reopen. That’s the reality. The question is doing it in the best way we can.

But some are still painting any suggestion of reopening things as somehow evil or wrong, implying you want to kill people. On top of that, they are the “better” people because they “care” more. Invariably, it’s folks whose jobs aren’t endangered by the pandemic lockdowns and who don’t have to worry about feeding their families.

Um, you’re not a doctor, by your own rules, we don’t have to listen to you. Doctors are not the people in charge, they work for us, it’s the politicians who still have to weigh all the factors not just virus or medical and they have to answer to us too.

There’s no way of guaranteeing no deaths, even in a perfect situation. Thinking everyone has to be locked in to achieve something that isn’t possible is unhinged. Life isn’t a safe space.

Meanwhile, people are dying, from failure to go to doctors, failure to get surgeries that have been delayed, people’s cancers are advancing without treatment, people are committing suicide from being locked in and millions have lost their jobs and businesses.

New rule: anyone at risk, stay in. Anyone else, take proper precautions like an adult. CNN people, give your checks to anyone you’re trying to preach at for wanting to save their jobs, their lives and feed their families.
