One of the more interesting human interest stories from the pandemic so far has been the story of Michigan state representative Karen Whitsett, a Democrat, attributing her recovery from the Wuhan coronavirus to hydroxychloroquine and President Donald Trump’s mention of it during his briefings.
But Democrats didn’t find it such an interesting story, despite one of their own members saying her life was saved. You would think they would be celebrating that fact.
But on the contrary, as my colleague Elizabeth Vaughn reported, Democrats in Detroit plan to censure Whitsett and bar any future endorsements of her in a vote on Saturday.
A Democratic district leader said that she “broke protocol” by meeting with Pence and Trump during a coronavirus survivor meeting, during which she gave hydroxychloroquine credit for helping save her life.
The 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization wasn’t too happy with her breach of protocol, hence the Saturday vote. A vote of censure “means she will not get the group’s endorsement for this year nor will she be able to engage in the group’s activities for the next two election cycles.”
Jonathan Kinloch, chairman of the organization, told The Detroit News, “At the end of the day, we have political systems. We have political parties, and political parties exist for a reason. They do not belong to themselves. They belong to the members and precinct delegates of the Democratic Party.”
Whoa, seriously? They just said the quiet part out loud. You are not allowed independent thought, you belong to us. Yikes.
But turns out Whitsett will not be silent. She went on Tucker Carlson’s show on Friday evening and let them have it for trying to shut her down.
"I didn't know 'Thank you' belonged to one political party over another"
Unbelievable
Karen Whitsett is being treated terribly by her own party, including Gretchen Whitmer who has been sending Rep. Whitsett nasty texts

First, she started by saying she didn’t think a “thank you” was something that should be regarded as political. She also called out Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who has become infamous for her draconian measures in Michigan, for not pleasant text messages to her. Whitsett made it clear that she was not going to be silent. “I’m not going to stand by and be silent,” Whitsett said, “I will go up against her any day.”
“The president wants to work with us. He wants to give us the things that we need, and I’ve had the conversations with him,” she continued. “So I know first hand. I’ve had the conversations with the VP as well.”
Whitsett’s doctor, Michigan State Medical Society President Dr. Mohammed Arsiwala, was also on the show and he confirmed that it had worked for the the 16 patients he had prescribed it for.
Good for Whitsett. How despicable of Democrats for trying to shut her down over this. It just exposes how everything is about their own control and power, even something like this, where everyone should be celebrating and thankful that her life was saved.
