Greg Gutfeld Reaches His Breaking Point With Co-Host, Encapsulates GOP Anger Over Russia Collusion Hoax

Greg Gutfeld reached his breaking point with liberal co-host Jessica Tarlov on Wednesday, launching into a heated commentary on the double standards surrounding the Russia collusion hoax. In doing so, he perfectly encapsulated broader Republican frustrations, with Democrats claiming that history is being "rewritten."

Those cries have gone forth despite the fact that the original intelligence assessment has now been proven to be a false political hit job orchestrated from the top of the Barack Obama administration. Current DNI Tulsi Gabbard revealed documents last Friday proving that the former president directed then-CIA Director John Brennan to manufacture the assertion that now-President Donald Trump had colluded with the Russians to steal the 2016 election. For the better part of a decade, that was the predominant talking point, with even Hillary Clinton adopting it.

Keep in mind that throughout that chaotic time, it was left to outlets like RedState to dig deeper and discover the truth, and slowly but surely, much of the conspiracy was uncovered. What makes Gabbard's revelations novel isn't that we didn't already know Obama was behind this and that Brennan ignored his own experts to create the Russia collusion hoax. It's that the information is being sourced directly back to the U.S. government through undeniable documentation.

So what's the next move for Democrats? It's to proclaim all this is old news and that everyone should just shut up about it and move on. How very convenient, right? Tarlov, one of the co-hosts of "The Five," tried that line with Gutfeld, and he blew up in a way you rarely see from a guy who typically sticks to his comedic chops.

TARLOV: Obama, Hillary, and they get activated, and suddenly they won't be mad at Trump anymore for not releasing the Epstein files or whatever he had to do with it. It is preposterous that we are talking about Hillary Clinton's emails again. We are in 2025.

GUTFELD: We spent years on this story.

TARLOV: You know what your choice is?

GUTFELD: No, no, let me take it. We spent years on this story, and it was false!

TARLOV: It wasn't false!

GUTFELD: No, no, for people to understand what happened, alright, because the problem with this story is that no one knows what you're talking about. When Trump won in 2016, the intel community concluded that Russia didn't have a hand in his victory. Instead of accepting the conclusion, Obama determined and wanted a new conclusion. So he sent Brennan running to come up with a new collusion, that there was some kind of trivial involvement, that they could then feed out to the media, and coincidentally, dozens of news organisations said Trump was in bed with Putin, and that somehow, Brennan knew. How did he know? There was no proof!

We'll get to Tarlov's response momentarily, but what Gutfeld is illustrating is how so many conservatives are feeling, having seen every mainstream press outlet amplify and spread the Russia collusion hoax for years on end, only to turn around and drop the story the moment the truth comes out. It was never about the evidence. It was always about the narrative, and that's beyond clear at this point.

Tarlov's mention of Epstein is also transparent. This is a woman who could not have cared less about that story until the last five minutes, when she, along with every other Democrat, decided it was politically useful. That's ghoulish behavior. But let me address what she says next, because it shows just how dishonest she is.

TARLOV: Why did John Durham do nothing?

GUTFELD: There was no proof, there was no proof!

TARLOV: Why did Durham do nothing then?

GUTFELD: No, let me finish. They amplified a false conclusion that Trump colluded with Russia in 2016. We had to spend years dealing with that, and now, we're actually getting an investigation, and you're saying, No, you know what, you guys should just move on. You guys should just move on." You say the same F-ing thing about Biden's brain. You guys spent four years telling us that Joe Biden was fine. You covered up for an invalid, and then when we get the truth, it's like, "You know what? We've got to look forward. We've got to stop talking about what's there."

Why did John Durham do nothing? Are you kidding me? Could it be because he spent almost the entirety of his investigation having to slog through roadblocks put up by the then-Biden administration? Durham wasn't even appointed until October of 2020. By the time he assembled his team and got to work, Biden was in office, and do you think he (to the extent he was sentient) had any interest in allowing a real investigation to take place?

But you know what? That's irrelevant. I don't know Durham from Adam. Maybe he missed things? Maybe he didn't want to press too many buttons? What I do know is what Gabbard has uncovered, and the documents don't lie.

I may be skeptical that any criminal indictments come from this, but that's not the basis by which I think this information deserves to be given to the public. If there's no exact statute to charge Brennan and Obama under for this conspiracy to try to falsely frame an elected president, whatever. I still want every bit of this laundry aired out, and I think just about every other Republican does as well.

So no, we aren't moving on, and it's not old news. Tarlov and the like can deal with it.
