Do Democrats really care about killing the economy with the restrictions? Do they understand that that translates to untold suffering for many Americans? It isn’t some esoteric game.
It doesn’t seem as though they do understand that. It almost seems like they think, disgustingly, this is an “opportunity” for them to get their agenda through by taking advantage of devastation of the pandemic.
Oh, look. We don’t have to imagine that’s what they’re thinking. Sometimes, they’re not particularly bright, like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and they say the quiet part out loud.
She was commenting on this tweet about oil prices cratering.
Oil prices now at “negative values,” meaning oil producers have to pay people to take it off their hands and store it because when demand plunges (like now), that is less expensive for them than building more storage and/or shutting wells down. https://t.co/MQVHc2EXyf

Here was her response, which she later deleted, celebrating the oil prices going negative, which will harm the American oil industry and throw thousands out of work.

“You absolutely love to see it. This along with record low interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. *cough*.”
She later changed it to this.
This snapshot is being acknowledged as a turning point in the climate movement.
Fossil fuels are in long-term structural decline. This along w/ low interest rates means it‘s the right time to create millions of jobs transitioning to renewable and clean energy. A key opportunity. https://t.co/UqT8DI5u2I

Although she deleted it, the internet is forever and people caught it.
This is completely tone-deaf celebrating the loss of jobs of thousands. But of course, she thinks it serves her agenda, so she “loves to see it.” Not a good look celebrating people losing their jobs in the middle of a pandemic.
Now one of the reasons may be the demand is down and that will come back once the economy opens back up. But it’s still cheaper to use than the renewable energy she’s pitching and in case she doesn’t realize it, there’s no money now for any of her Green New Deal ideas. That’s gone. It’s going to take everything we have just to get the economy back on track.
Glad to hear you’ve gotten over your cough. Health and safety first, Congresswoman. pic.twitter.com/sXpaIwWyvx

*Cough.*
Self-proclaimed socialist @AOC should be ASHAMED of herself! AOC sent out this tweet before quickly deleting it, saying she "absolutely loves to see" hardworking Texans working in the oil and gas industry lose their jobs. pic.twitter.com/ciwmbZuSEs

Deleting your tweet celebrating the loss of American jobs doesn't make us forget. Try to contain your excitement while families lose everything. pic.twitter.com/uL2knSG1Z1

A sitting Member of Congress celebrating Americans losing their jobs and livelihood all because they work in the oil/gas industry. What a reprehensible comment. #ILSen #Twill #OilPrices pic.twitter.com/0bGm5u2eDC

I don’t “love to see” oil & gas workers & their rural communities suffering as a result of this devastating price collapse, @AOC.
Places like West Texas & hard-working men & women in the oil patch power the bright lights of NYC… including the hospitals! pic.twitter.com/ITEJ6RLk2s

Leftist Congresswoman, BA economics degree holder, and former high school science prize winner AOC wants you to know she thinks the devastation of our oil industry and the impending loss of tens-of-thousands of jobs is something she “LOVES TO SEE” https://t.co/3mXyiubg0p
— Buck Sexton (@BuckSexton) April 20, 2020
Remember when the media and Democrats said that no one was cheering the pandemic devastation and that anyone who claimed that was lying or a conspiracy theorist?
AOC just admitted that they are cheering it: https://t.co/q2whHfQHrN

This is one of the dumbest things she's ever said…and that's really saying something.
She's literally arguing that because oil is cheap…we should spend more money on solar/wind… for some reason she can't quite articulate. https://t.co/U8ZK6wPv1z

Ocasio-Cortez is not the only one who sees economic devastation as an opportunity to push agenda.
From Free Beacon:
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.) last month described the crisis as a “tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision,” and he was subsequently tapped by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) to lead the new coronavirus oversight committee.
