Media just lost it today in after a Wuhan coronavirus press briefing.

After President Donald Trump went through all kinds of information and detail trying to reassure the public, NBC’s Peter Alexander basically acted as though Trump hadn’t said anything and asked in an antagonistic way with numbers of cases and deaths going up, what could he say now to Americans are scared?

He tried to claim it was just a “simple question” (just skip the loaded parts and the fact that Trump had just told him what he had to say to the American people).

Skip this part too that he said immediately before.

Even in the middle of dealing with a pandemic they just can’t shut off the attack and the spinning.

If Trump says something reassuring it’s “downplaying” things. If he doesn’t say something they like he’s not being “reassuring” when we gave him the opportunity to be. He could say anything and it would still be wrong to them, because that is always how they would spin it.

Exactly.

Oh look, this tweet today from CNN basically proves the point, almost word for word.

How dare he be positive! How dare he offer hope! What a terrible president!

What would they rather he do? Promote panic like they are constantly doing? Do they wonder why Americans no longer trust them or have any faith in them?

Is there any wonder that he loses his patience with nonsense like this? It’s a constant drumbeat with the only consistent theme being whatever Trump does is axiomatically wrong.

Even offering hope, a truly needed thing at a time when media wouldn’t stop pushing panic, is now bad and “unsubstantiated.”

You have folks having to stay home, social distancing, losing jobs and all their normal activities.

Trump is doing a good job at offering a mixture of economic, medical and other reassurance. Perhaps media could learn something from that?

Here’s a thought. How about just for a month, the media doesn’t play these constant games? How about they put aside their attacks on behalf of the Democratic narrative and put the interests of Americans first.

How about they do a little “Country over Party?”
