Folks on the left were really triggered by what the Nationals did during their visit to the White House to celebrate their World Series win.
Ryan Zimmerman thanked President Donald Trump for having them to visit. Then he praised the president. “I’d like to thank you for having us here,” Zimmerman said. “This is an incredible honor that all of us will never forget. And we’d also like to thank you for keeping everyone here safe in our country and continuing to make America the greatest country to live in the world.” He then gave Trump a Nationals jersey with his name and a 45 on it.
When Trump called Kurt Suzuki up to say a few words, Suzuki pulled out a MAGA hat put it on and said, “I love you all.”
That sent many on the left over the edge, as we reported earlier.
But then Rudy Gersten, who has had bylines in the Washington Post, put this out, implying that Stephen Strasburg had avoided shaking hands with the president.

Except there was a small problem with this story. It wasn’t true.
As video and pics show as people called it out, he shook hands with both Trump and the First Lady in the full video of the event.

But without doubt, the best response came from MVP Stephen Strasburg himself, who apparently hadn’t tweeted since April 2018. He came on Twitter to call out the tweet as “fake news.”

Clarification:
Gersten has had bylines in the WaPo and he had set his account to private at the time of the writing of this article which was why his video was not apparent. Gersten clarifies that he did not delete his video, he is not an employee of the WaPo and he has not been paid by them.
