Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) appeared on “Meet the Press” with Chuck Todd to talk about comments a U.S. diplomat made in relation to the Ukraine phone call made by President Donald Trump.
But when Johnson began to reference John Brennan and leaks from the CIA that hurt Trump as well as the allegations that Democrats solicited Ukrainian help in 2016 in order to undermine the Trump campaign, Todd had a melt down and refused to let him continue.
From Daily Caller:
“You ought to ask Director Brennan: What did Peter Strzok mean when he texted Lisa Page on Dec. 15, 2016?” Johnson began, referring to two of the former FBI officials who worked on the Trump-Russia probe.
Todd said: “Senator, what does this have to do with Ukraine?”
Johnson read from a text message that Strzok sent Page in which he speculated that the CIA was behind leaks for political reasons.
“Think our sisters have begun leaking like mad. Scorned and worried and political, they’re kicking in to overdrive,” Strzok wrote Page on Dec. 15, 2016.
Johnson then tried to bring up the alleged Democratic solicitation of info from Ukraine to undermine the Trump campaign. He referenced a Politico article that detailed the solicitation and the allegation that it worked, Paul Manafort was fired and that undermined the campaign.
Todd flipped out and called that “Fox News conspiracy propaganda,” completely ignoring that it was from Politico and that a Ukrainian court has found there was meddling. Some “conspiracy.” Yet he had no problem with spending time on what was actually a false hoax, Russia collusion.
Johnson replied that Todd’s reaction and refusal to listen is one of the reasons that people have a problem with media, because they don’t want to look at issues that can hurt the Democrats.
Instead of actually allowing Johnson to make his point, Todd said Johnson was only about trying to make Trump feel better by not being critical of him.
“Senator Johnson, please,” Todd said at one point during the contentious interview. “Can we please answer the question that I asked you instead of trying to make [President] Donald Trump feel better here that you’re not criticizing him?”
As the Daily Caller notes, Todd has a long history of turning a blind eye to many of the allegations of wrongdoing by the CIA, FBI or Democrats during the 2016 election.
U.S. Attorney John Durham is looking into what the Democrats did in terms of Ukraine and John Brennan has said that he is going to be interviewed by Durham about the origins of the Russia probe.
