Lemme begin by admitting I don't know what goes on in the mind of Hunter Biden.
That said, I do know substance abuse ultimately does bad stuff to one's brain. Toss in a healthy dose of Biden family arrogance and self-entitlement, and I think we're getting close to understanding how Joe Biden's problem child thinks.
Case in point:
Hunter's explanation of why his dad was thoroughly thrashed by President Donald Trump in the 2024 general election — an election that also saw down-ballot Republican candidates win critical races that led to the GOP recapturing the majority in the Senate and holding onto the majority in the House — was as delusional as you might expect.
During an interview with former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison on his new podcast, “At Our Table,” Hunter surmised that Kamala Harris lost because of the disloyalty she was shown by Democrat voters. No, really.
Not to nitpick or digress, but shouldn't voters be loyal to the policies and programs they most believe are not only the best for themselves and their families, but also best for America? (The question is rhetorical.)
Nevertheless, here's Hunter (emphasis, mine):
I will tell you why we lost the last election. We lost the election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party. That’s my position. We had the advantage of incumbency. We had advantage of an incredibly successful administration and the Democratic Party literally melted down.
Again, I don't know how this guy thinks, but wow.
Setting the loyalty thing aside, what was Hunter smoking? OK, never mind; we're well aware of his substance preferences. But, really — "an incredibly successful administration?" By what rational measure(s) or wildly-stretched imagination?
Millions of illegal aliens flowing across our borders? Bidenomics, which led to Bidenflation? A mess in the Middle East? The disaster in Ukraine? Or, maybe Joe's embrace of DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) and on-demand abortion?
The list goes on — and zero on that list comes anywhere near suggesting that the Biden-Harris administration was anything other than a debacle of epic proportions — much of it intentionally so.
Hunter used the same "loyalty logic" as he talked about the next three years, with a nod toward the 2028 presidential election:
You know what, we are going to fight amongst ourselves for the next three years until there’s a nominee. And then with the nominee, we better as hell get behind that nominee.
Uh-huh. And who might that be?
A Kamala Harris redux? Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)? Miserably failed California Gov. Gavin Newsom? Space cadet Tim Walz, the Minnesota governor whom Kamala chose as her ultimately hilarious 2024 running mate? Hell, why not loony Rep. Jasmine Crocket (D-TX) in the veep slot, while we're at it?
Core left-wing Democrats will undoubtedly show up for any or all of the above — as they did for Biden in November — but unless the Democrat Party changes not only its messaging but also its policies and proposals, 2028 is going to see the Republican Party hang onto the White House. That is, given that the Trump administration continues its otherworldly winning streak.
