So Much Trump Winning, So Much Democrat Dumb

This is the birthday week of a nation that’s carved an amazingly inspirational trail through 249 years of global human history.

It’s not a perfect place, by any means, though it always seems to be slogging in that generally positive direction. If the United States were perfect, there’d be swift, severe justice for those lying, dog-faced pony soldiers who fouled Washington the past few years, and another wealthy couple would own my favorite sports team.

Among the cornucopia of precious liberties embedded in our cherished America is the freedom to be stupid. Many take advantage of that. Not just simple stupid, mind you. But spectacular, jaw-dropping stupid, the kind of stupid that would draw 9.9 scores from judges at the Olympic stupid finals.

I’ve only been a living part of the U.S. saga for a third of its unfolding history. But I cannot remember ever reading about a more impressive collection of ignorant, self-destructive dumb-asses than today’s Democrat Party.

The deafness of its leadership is so profound that not even sign language could get through. The shallowness of their acts and words makes a dry-creek bed look deep. The lack of self-awareness would send a herd of the party’s donkey mascots into uncontrollable laughter.

Remember “The Gong Show,” the painful 1970s TV creation that offered amateur performers a chance to be mocked by showcasing dubious talents until a gong thankfully terminated their effort? Chuck Schumer and Cory Booker would get gonged offstage immediately, while Hakeem Jeffries couldn’t even get in the studio door.

Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t bother trying; she’s occupied somehow turning the standard $174K annual House salary into a fortune of millions.

Long-term, the crippling current mental asphyxia of leftists is not that great for the country. But neither was the drift, grift, and lack of thrift for the rest of us during their recent reign of deceit and open borders, propping up a commander in chief challenged by screen doors.

So, after enduring years of their lies, corruptions, hoaxes, censorship, cynical collusions, and their trademark condescension toward anyone who dared to disagree, it is rather refreshing to see the tables turned as Democrats wallow in impotence.

They’re soundly out of power in all three branches of Washington’s government while Donald Trump now inhabits the White House as well as their minds.

The imaginative ways that political desperation drives leftists to behave are truly impressive. And puzzling. Today’s Democrat Party is controlled by radicals. They told Joe Biden to spend $5 trillion on what I call their Egenda of electric car mandates, oil-drilling bans, and solar excesses.

They drained the nation’s emergency oil reserves, then chose not to refill them. And despite cautionary polls, they erased the southern border, admitting millions of illegal immigrants, tons of illegal drugs, and unvetted foreign agents with dubious intentions.

Who does this to serve their country?

Kamala Harris admitted she could not think of anything she’d do differently than Brandon.

Not only did Democrats lose the election and Congress to Trump’s populist American First agenda, they finally hemorrhaged significant chunks of the longtime base they've taken for granted.

Subsequent Democrat decisions appear politically suicidal. In historical American political practice, you don’t renew a defeated party and regain power by pushing rejected policies harder.

Yet that’s what Dems have decided to do. Then, to showcase their numb minds, they chose a proto-communist as party nominee to lead the country’s largest city. Elsewhere, millions of residents have fled the failed policies of blue states. So, more of the same will succeed?

Yes, this benefits Republicans and Trump for now. But it also drives home a startling and disturbing truth: Today’s Democrat Party is not about serving voters’ needs and desires to make the country stronger and life better. It’s about serving itself by grasping power or clinging to it as it did with Biden to drive a radical agenda, no matter what.

Since Trump blew back into the White House with historically productive early months, Democrat leaders have taken increasing heat from their base for ineffective opposition to No. 47.

Here’s what they’ve attempted in response:

  • House Democrat leader Jeffries spoke for more than eight hours on the House floor. He warned, without evidence, that tens of thousands of Americans would die if the Trump administration’s major legislation passed, which it did.
  • The party’s House leader posted a forlorn photo of himself, alone, holding a baseball bat. Jeffries thought it symbolized his determination to keep pressure on Trump. Instead, it looked like he was just cut from the team.
  • Anyway, Trump signed the bill with great ceremony on July 4th. No death count yet.
  • To show how good Democrats are at long speeches, New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker held the Senate floor for more than 25 hours of talking to destroy the Trump administration. That didn’t work either. But it did get Booker a CNN story on how he prepared to avoid using the bathroom for that long.
  • Some Democrat House members who are doctors donned white coats for a photo-op to protest President Trump’s agenda. But a pack of passing tourists disrupted the proceedings, which failed to prove Democrats are a viable alternative.
  • Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer resorted to some legislative legerdemain to delay Trump legislation. It did not stop the bill, nor did it reveal any realistic Dem alternatives. But it got media attention.
  • Barack Obama is remembered as the president who turned his initial major foreign trip into a tour apologizing to the world for the country that just elected him as its first black president.
  • Obama, who lost his shadow third term with the ignominious White House exit of Joe Biden, used this July 4th holiday to tell Americans their country “is not the project of any one person.” Obama has long treasured straw men.
  • The Democrat Party’s national committee, a traditional political stronghold when a party is out of the White House, has been undergoing turmoil and divisions under new chairman Ken Martin. He’s overseen the ouster of political insurgent David Hogg as vice chair, and now prominent union leader Randi Weingarten turned down an appointment as an at-large member.
  • Kamala Harris chose the nation’s birthday not to express national pride, share good wishes with fellow Americans, or take a leadership stance. “This Fourth of July I am taking a moment to reflect,” she tweeted. Her reflection: “Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better.”
  • Joe Biden, the most-vacationed president in history, was again taking it easy in Malibu for the holiday. He was enjoying the hospitality of the son he blanket-pardoned, but got caught in a losing struggle with his beach chair.

Biden’s legacy of mental fog and ineptitude will haunt his party (and the country his dementia betrayed) for a very long time. The oldest president in history who fashioned himself in 2020 as a transitional leader, instead transitioned his party to contemporary political oblivion.

Despite Biden's ominous warnings about Trump surely destroying democracy, his successor has effectively managed the inflation leftovers from Democrats’ $5 trillion unfunded spending. Recent job creation numbers exceeded estimates. The stock market has recovered, and federal revenues from tariffs have soared.

Nothing can bring back the 13 service members lost in Biden’s botched Afghan exit. But Trump is erasing Biden’s DEI and COVID policies that damaged the military. And he took decisive recent action to stagger Iran’s previously unhindered march to nuclear weapons.

Trump is also moving to address the serious national impacts of Biden’s open border and the influx of millions of illegal immigrants, including gang members and criminals. He’s restarted border-wall construction and, despite attempted legal roadblocks, is pursuing deportations of dangerous criminals.

Politically, that’s popular. Practically, however, the damage from Biden's willful facilitation of the illegals’ invasion is just beginning. Sure, thousands of illegals will be removed, voluntarily or otherwise. But millions will remain embedded thanks to Biden and Democrat sanctuary policies, costing generations of local taxpayers billions for education, health, social welfare, and law enforcement.

Democrat resistance tactics have even helped forge a closer political alliance between Trump and one-time political foe, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida.

Inexplicably, Democrats, even some harboring future political ambitions, have sided with the illegals, seeking to block deportations both legally and physically, and sometimes violently. They’ve sided with rioters opposing ICE agents, in some cases even illegally advising illegals how to avoid federal agents.

Currently, Trump is enjoying a string of legal and legislative victories that have now expanded his successful first 100 days into a successful first 167 days.

There are 1,264 more days left in his second term. In politics, of course, things can change. But if Democrats don’t change theirs, Trump’s current string of successful days will grow a whole lot longer.
