As is the case with HBO's "Real Time" host Bill Maher, Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart also occasionally takes time out from blasting all things President Donald Trump to set his sights on the Democrat Party and its sock puppets in the left-wing media.

On Monday night, Stewart did so in glorious fashion as he blasted CNN — the laughably self-labeled "Most Trusted Name in News" — and its embattled host Jake Tapper, who deservedly remains under fire for shamelessly hawking his new book "Original Sin" about, as the book's cover reads, "President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Decision to Run Again." 

Unmitigated gall? You bet. 

And just as infuriating, as my colleague Bob Hoge recently wrote, "Tapper continues to pretend he's not guilty of [the] most rampant hypocrisy imaginable," by absolving — or ignoring — his eyeballs-deep participation in the cover-up of Biden's cognitive decline like the smug champ he is.

Anyway, so Stewart ripped into CNN, blistering the outlet for aggressively promoting Stewart's already infamous book about a historic topic that Stewart said CNN should have covered during Biden’s term. During Stewart's more than eight-minute diatribe, he masterfully summed up the problem for CNN, Tapper, and the left-wing media as a whole, in one sentence (profanity alert):

[H]ow f***ing weird it is that the news is selling you a book about news they should’ve told you was news a year ago — for free!

Game, set, match — thanks for playing.

Emmy Award-winning actress Patricia Heaton, of "Everybody Loves Raymond" fame, posted Stewart's entire segment on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

It’s unfathomable how far Jake Tapper and CNN have fallen. Can you imagine Walter Cronkite constantly hawking a book?! And having all his colleagues join in?! Especially one about news they should have been reporting on all year?!  Good job, Jon Stewart.

Stewart played a montage of Tapper plugging the book on CNN multiple times.

Don’t news people have to tell you what they know when they find it out? Isn’t that the difference between news and a secret? ‘You won’t believe what we found out!’ No, that’s why I’m watching. Breaking news … in a week.

While we'll likely never know whether the lapdog media did its damnedest to fly wingman for the Biden White House's feverish efforts to cover up Biden's more-than-clear cognitive decline because they wanted the 82-year-old president to win a second term due his radical policies, or out of sheer hatred for Donald Trump and his policies, but I have to believe it was due to latter.

Then again, what difference does it make? 

The Biden White House, the entire Democrat Party, and the left-wing media colluded in what will surely be remembered as the most egregious cover-up in the history of the American presidency.
