PBS Uses Souter’s Death to Claim 'We Need That Model' to Stand Against Trump 'Threat to the Rule of Law'

In this episode of "Your Tax Dollars at Work"...

Yep, taxpayer-supported, totally unbiased PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) shamelessly used the death of Supreme Court Justice David Souter to scaremonger the bejesus out of its equally-smug audience over President Donald Trump and his "unprecedented threat to the rule of law."

While avoiding Trump by name, it was crystal clear that the nattering nabobs of negativity were talking about the president and his administration. It was also the same old ridiculous, worn-out tripe that a strong majority of the American people have likely tuned out.

The "PBS News Hour" segment kicked off with show moderator William Brangham playing a clip of the late Souter's 2012 interview with the outlet, in which the late associate justice declared:

I don't worry about our losing republican government in the United States because I'm afraid of a foreign invasion. [Jump Cut] What I worry about is that, when problems are not addressed, people will not know who is responsible. And when the problems get bad enough, as they might do, for example, with another serious terrorist attack, as they might do with another financial meltdown, someone person will come forward and say, give me total power and I will solve this problem.

Again, the clip was from a 2012 interview — four years before the dictator-wannabe (in the TDS-riddled minds of the left) first ran for president. No matter; the PBS elitists continue to make fools out of themselves as they shamelessly and unsuccessfully attempt to hang the tyrannical mantle on Trump.

Souter law clerk Noah Feldman joined the ridiculous show to pay tribute to his former boss, and while he didn't explicitly mention Trump, who else could he have been referencing when he said:

Justice Souter's whole career was devoted to being an example of the rule of law and a justice of the Supreme Court who was completely uninterested in partisanship or political ideology, but was just committed to the idea of getting the law right. And in the current moment, when the threat to the rule of law is unprecedented, we need that model.

To the left, "the current moment" involves a president of the United States actually following through on promises he made throughout his presidential campaign — and delivering results. Results, of course, that are anathema to the radicalized Democrat Party and its sock-puppet media.

The Bottom Line

While many folks appear to believe that PBS receives all — or a large part — of its funding from American taxpayers, Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), said in a statement in early May:

Congress directly authorized and funded CPB to be a private nonprofit corporation wholly independent of the federal government.
According to a spokesman, PBS and its stations receive about 15 percent of their revenues from the CPB, and that goes to local stations.

Fine. Let's at least pretend to buy the 15 percent claim, because that larger issue is given the hopeless bias of CPB — which also includes NPR — American taxpayers shouldn't be required to give these smug clowns a dime.
