From the extreme hysteria of Hollywooders like Ellen Degeneres and Eva Longoria leaving the country to the continuing meltdown of late-night talk show hosts to D.C. Democrats and their sycophantic media, left-wingers still can't wrap their collective brains around the fact that President-elect Donald Trump demolished Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
Whether they're leaving the country or leaving X (formerly Twitter), leftists are desperately looking for safe spaces away from opposing viewpoints, facts, and the reality yet to come.
Jonathan Turley, George Washington University Law School professor and political commentator, summed it up perfectly:
Democrats who campaigned on the need for “joy” and “saving democracy” are strikingly unjoyful about the results of the democratic process in 2024.
Exactly.
The Democrats' continuing post-election reaction to Trump's win has been a quintessential display of leftist hypocrisy on steroids. "Joy," "democracy," "inclusion," "freedom," and other usually positive words, twisted beyond recognition, are only possible when Democrats win. When they don't, particularly with respect to Donald Trump, America as they envision it, is doomed.
Yet, consider the left's behavior prior to the election, as Turley noted.
Before the election, slips like the one of President Joe Biden calling Trump supporters “garbage” were immediately denied or deflected. But once voters had given the Republicans control of both houses of Congress, the popular vote and the White House, leading Democratic figures and celebrities dropped all pretense of civility. They are now being open about their contempt for voters, calling them “f***ing morons” and “arrogant, ignorant” adolescents.
After calling for Americans to come together for Kamala Harris, MSNBC’s Joy Reid sent out a heart-warming holiday message to those who voted for the GOP to “make your own dinner, MAGA. Make your own sandwiches, wipe your own tears.” Those not wallowing in Reid’s anger are increasingly voicing themes of isolation, insurrection and secession.
Again, hypocrisy at its "best."
If Harris had won the election — shudder the thought — the legacy media, CNN and MSNBC, and the ladies of "The View" would be smugly railing against conservatives who dared to express their dissatisfaction over the outcome. They know it, we know it, and they know we know it. Thing is, they couldn't care less. Why? Because leftists are incapable of grasping reality that doesn't go their way.
"Now that the public has made its choice," Turley wrote, "leading [left-wing] figures are condemning the majority of voters as a mix of misogynists, self-haters and fascists."
Turley continued:
Whoopi Goldberg, 69, even joined the “4B” sex strike against men. Others seem to be morphing into exactly what they said Trump would become as president: isolationist and insurrectionist."
Some have responded to the losses by retreating further into echo chambers protected from opposing views. Many dumped X in favor of BlueSky, a new social media safe space for liberals who fear being triggered by opposing views. Notably, censorship advocates such as Nina Jankowisz have fled to BlueSky.
The site is portrayed as a return to the good old days when liberals controlled all of the social media and maintained a massive censorship and blacklisting system over political discourse.
New York Times tech reporter Kevin Roose wrote a column last week that offered the familiar “I can breathe again” account: “After an hour or so of scrolling through Bluesky the other night, I felt something I haven’t felt on social media in a long time: free.”
The most hilarious part of the whole thing is that the objective among us see the above silliness as nothing more than meaningless virtue-signaling by intentionally-low-information, self-spoiled brats who didn't get their way.

In another act of "We'll show you!," multiple Democrat mayors, governors, and congressional Democrats have vowed to form various coalitions and pledged not to cooperate with federal authorities under the incoming Trump administration, which Turley noted is a "lawful choice." He added that the concern is how others who are vehemently opposed to Trump will react to "the overheated rhetoric for months that this will be 'our last election' and that Trump is the new Hitler."

Incidentally, talk of a "shadow government" is ridiculous by definition. What complicit Democrats really intend to do is very publicly show the radical left that they're all in when it comes to trying to pretend that Donald Trump is not again the president of the United States.
The Bottom Line
Between Donald Trump and the Republicans trying to undo the damage done to this country over the last four years under the Biden-Harris administration and the left trying to thwart their every effort, the next four years are likely to be an unpredictable ride. Buckle up.
