Sunday's Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers is expected to be watched by tens of millions of people around the world, which is why a 30-second commercial in this year's game runs about $7 million. In other words, we're talking about a mega-ratings bonanza like few others.
Now one would think that a politician running for re-election in November would jump all over an opportunity to do a halftime interview during the largest sporting event in the country — unless your name is Joe Biden, that is.
While sitting presidents traditionally participate in Super Bowl interviews, Biden has declined the offer — just like he did, last year. Why? We'll get into that in a bit.
Anyway, lo and behold, upon learning that Biden has again begged off, a certain former president stepped up to the plate and graciously offered to replace the usually befuddled Biden. Yep, you guessed.
In what amounted to a brilliant political — and marketing — move, Donald Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
Crooked Joe Biden has just announced that he will not be doing the big Super Bowl Interview. A great decision, he can’t put two sentences together. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO REPLACE HIM – would be “RATINGS GOLD!

Of course, the chances of CBS accepting Trump's offer are roughly the same as Bud Light hooking up with Dylan Mulvaney again, but here's the thing: Trump wins and Biden loses either way. And Trump knows it.
As my colleague Nick Arama reported earlier on Tuesday, the former president challenged the sitting president to an immediate debate while talking with conservative pundit and host Dan Bongino on Monday after noting that Biden had turned down the Super Bowl gig.
In classic Trumpian fashion — which I say as a compliment — Donald declared:
He can’t do it because he can’t talk. He can’t do anything.
Is there any doubt?

Ironically, Biden proved Trump's point when he was told about the former president's offer to debate.
Reporter: “Donald Trump says he’s ready to debate you right now. Do you accept?”
Reporter: “He wants to debate you ‘immediately.’”
President Biden: “If I were him, I’d want him to debate me, too. He’s got nothing else to do.”
Nuff said, Joe.

In 2023, Biden declined to sit for an interview with Fox News, which wasn't much of a shock, given the left's view of Fox. And to be fair, Trump decided against participating in an interview with NBC in 2018.
The Bottom Line
So here's the salient question:
Does Donald Trump believe that Joe Biden would, in a million years, accept his offer to debate — particularly before the general election campaign?
Of course, he doesn't — Trump knows full well there's no way in hell that Biden would accept such an offer. Even if he wanted to, his handlers would lock him in the basement and throw away the key if necessary.
Likewise, Trump knew full well when he offered to replace Biden in the Super Bowl interview that CBS wouldn't touch his offer with a 10-foot hypocritical pole.
Trump might color outside the lines, sometimes more than we'd like, but he's not stupid. And, like the rest of us. he smells blood in the water. Biden might not be a dead man walking, but he's hanging by a thread.
