Like Clockwork, Biden Uses UNLV Handgun Attack as Excuse to Again Push 'Assault Weapons' Ban

Say what you will about the mumbling adventures of Joe Biden, but the guy has been consistently obsessed with banning so-called "assault weapons" for years. On Thursday, he used Wednesday's "mass shooting" at the University of New Mexico, Las Vegas, to again call for a ban on weapons that don't exist.

Just one problem.

The UNLV shooter, a disgruntled “67-year-old career college professor" who reportedly had applied for a job at the university but wasn't hired, used a handgun to kill three people and leave a fourth one critically wounded.

Sources said investigators have now determined that the victims killed were faculty or staff, not students, which suggests to detectives that the shootings were not likely random but may instead have been targeted because of previous relationships or interactions with the shooter.

Nevertheless, Gun-Grabbin' Joe promptly issued a statement which reads, in part:

For all the action [sic] we have taken since I’ve been President, the epidemic of gun violence we face demands that we do even more. But we cannot do more without Congress.

Republican lawmakers must join with Democrats in Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, pass a national red flag law, enact universal background checks, require the safe storage of guns, and advance other commonsense measures that will help stem the tide of gun violence.g

Here's more on the alleged shooter:

The deceased suspect in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas shooting has been identified as Anthony Polito, 67, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Polito had applied for a college professorship at UNLV, but was not hired, sources said. He had ties to North Carolina and Georgia, where he previously worked as a college professor, sources said.

Polito was armed with a handgun during Wednesday's on-campus attack in which three people were killed, authorities said.

In addition to citing the UNLV shooting, Biden also referenced the killing spree allegedly carried out by Shane James in San Antonio and Austin, Texas, from Monday to Wednesday of this week. Six people were killed, including James's parents, in separate attacks.

The Bottom Line

Unlike gun-grabbing leftists who'll use every shooting they can to do their damnedest to take away the Second Amendment rights of America's law-abiding gun owners, any rational person with a modicum of logical reasoning ability knows that in both of the aforementioned shootings, the likelihood that the alleged shooters would have carried out those shootings — one way or another — regardless of any gun-grabbing ban that the left could pass on its best day, would've been a good bet.

But here's the thing.

Democrats don't call for bans and such based on logic or rationale — they never have.

Hence the term "gun violence." Thing is, there's no such thing. Which reminds me: Given that the UNLV shooter is dead, have law enforcement authorities arrested the handgun yet?
