Before we get to the issue at hand, ask yourself a relevant question: Have you ever seen a report of left-wing blasphemy against Islam or Islamic holidays?
Me, neither. With that thought in mind, let us continue.
Perhaps the most iconic Christmas carol of all, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” has been rewritten with “woke” lyrics to be more “inclusive” of women, and “queer and questioning” people. Shocked? Again, me neither. While written by an American pastor, the “new and improved” carol was recently sung by a Church of England choir, prompting outrage from traditional Christians in the U.K.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the “updated” version retains only the first two lines of the original, which dates back to 17th century England, and the “O tidings of comfort and joy” chorus.
A photo of the order of service was posted on social media by “trainee priest” Rachael Brind-Surch of the self-styled “inclusive church,” All Saints with Holy Trinity in Loughborough, Leicestershire, who wrote: “Flipping love my church.”
Anyway, after the first chorus, the “woke” version reads:
God rest you also, women,
who by men have been erased,
Through history ignored and scorned,
defiled and displaced,
Remember that your stories too,
are held within God’s grace.

Believe you are deeply known,

What about bisexuals? Transgender men and women? Loons who identify as cats, dogs, or whatever else? I mean, if you’re going to be inclusive, why not go full-metal inclusive — so as not to offend anyone? Except for traditional Christians, that is.
As transcribed by Daily Mail, Sam Margrave, a member of the Church’s General Synod, was disgusted:
Absolutely disgusted an act of worship to our Lord and Saviour is being used to push political ideology contrary to Church of England teaching.
Rev. Matthew Firth said the new lyrics fit the “C of E’s woke, unbiblical agenda.'”
All ideas about Christ as saviour have been erased. Triumph over Satan’s power has been erased. And the whole nativity story has been erased.
Memo to Rev. Firth: That’s the exact intention of the radical left, and not just with the Christian faith, but with all aspects of traditional decency and morality, my friend.
As I suggested at the top, I wonder what would happen to a Muslim mosque and its congregants if Islam founder Muhammad was blasphemed like this? I mean, radical Islamists kill people for simply drawing pictures of this guy.
I don’t wonder at all, of course, and neither do you.
The Bottom Line
Leftism continues to creep into Christianity because it can. From same-sex couples demanding to be married at Christian churches, to Christian bakers being sued for refusing to bake same-sex wedding cakes, the leftists know they won’t be harmed in return.
Yet, let the left descend on a mosque or attack Islamic holidays or traditions, and God knows what would happen.
So does the left.
