Trump Demands to Be Declared the 'Rightful Winner' or 'Have a New Election, Immediately!'

Remember two weeks ago when former President Donald Trump was lauded in some circles for sending a private message to Attorney General Merrick Garland in the aftermath of the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago in which he said, “The country is on fire. What can I do to reduce the heat?”?  Me, too.

Remember two days ago when Trump erupted on Truth Social, demanding to be declared “the rightful winner” of the 2020 presidential election or to “have a new election, immediately!”, and those same “some circles” opined about that story? Me, neither.

Anyway, the guy who just two weeks ago said “the temperature has to be brought down” following the Mar-a-Lago raid has now kicked up a firestorm of his own, claiming “conclusive” new information about the FBI burying the Hunter Biden laptop scandal prior to the 2020 election not only impacted election results; it also provided a valid reason to “reinstate” Trump in office, or at the very least, immediately call for a new election.

So now it comes out, conclusively, that the FBI BURIED THE HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP STORY BEFORE THE ELECTION knowing that, if they didn’t, Trump would have easily won the 2020 Presidential Election. This is massive FRAUD & ELECTION INTERFERENCE at a level never seen before in our Country. REMEDY: Declare the rightful winner or, and this would be the minimal solution, declare the 2020 Election irreparably compromised and have a new Election, immediately!

Again, Trump’s operative word was “conclusively.” We “might” revisit that.

As I’ve said multiple times in the past, there is no provision in the U.S. Constitution by which a presidential election can be “overturned” and, in Trump’s case, a president can be “reinstalled” in office. Nor is there a provision for declaring a new — a “do-over,” as it were — election. That said, I’m not sure who — or which institution —Trump believes has the constitutional authority to do either.

Trump was right about the bombshell disclosure from Mark Zuckerberg to Joe Rogan about the FBI pressuring Facebook to algorithmically censor negative reports about Hunter Biden prior to the election, but his claim that “if they didn’t, Trump would have easily won the 2020 presidential election” has yet to be substantiated, at least to the degree to validate Trump’s repeated claim of a “rigged” and “stolen” election.

On Thursday, Zuckerberg told Rogan the FBI warned Facebook prior to the election not to spread “alleged Russian disinformation” in association with a New York Post story about Hunter’s laptop, leading to a “meaningful” decrease in the story appearing on users’ news feeds within the final week of the election campaign, according to Zuckerberg. Translation: censorship.

Moreover, Zuckerberg testified on October 28, 2020, before the Senate Commerce Committee that the FBI instructed Facebook to be “on high alert and sensitivity … if a trove of documents appeared, that we should view that with suspicion, that it might be part of a foreign manipulation attempt.”

I’ll go out on a limb and bet that if the FBI flew wingman for Donald Trump while he was in office, as it and Merrick Garland’s DOJ do now for Biden, and pressured Zuckerberg to censor negative news about Donald Trump Jr., Zuck would have run to the nearest liberal media outlet and blown that story wide open.

As to Trump, as countless people — including a significant percentage of Trump supporters — have said a zillion times: Donald Trump is his own worst enemy, or as political cartoonist Michael P. Ramirez labeled his August 31 cartoon, “The Root of Trump’s Problems.”

The bottom line:

Trump has nothing to gain by continuing to relitigate 2020, much less by demanding to be “reinstated” or demanding a 2020 do-over. Those who believe the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen” need zero more convincing. Those who don’t believe it will never believe it was, regardless of protestations to contrary by those who do.

Toss into the equation multiple polls that continue to suggest voters — including a plurality of Republicans — want to move beyond the 2020 election and instead focus on undoing the damage done to America and tens of millions of Americans by the disastrous Biden presidency.

2024 matters, Republicans — don’t screw it up.
