You gotta hand it to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Actually hell no, you don’t. The “devout,” “very Catholic” advocate of on-demand abortion until birth, which she has previously called “sacred ground,” has responded to the Friday morning Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
In typical melodramatic fashion, Pelosi kicked off her official statement, thusly:
Today, the Republican-controlled Supreme Court has achieved the GOP’s dark and extreme goal of ripping away women’s right to make their own reproductive health decisions.
Because of Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Party, and their supermajority on the Supreme Court, American women today have less freedom than their mothers.
Note to unborn children: While your mothers might have “less freedom” than their mothers, you have considerably more freedom than did all unborn children before Friday morning.
Note to Nancy Pelosi: “Republican-controlled” Supreme Court? Uh-huh. Chief Justice John Roberts has been a real gem for the conservative side, hasn’t he?
Incidentally, the “devout Catholic” has finally been excommunicated by San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone for her staunch defense of abortion. But Pelosi being Pelosi, she pretty much blew off the archbishop and received Holy Communion in Georgetown on the Sunday following Cordileone’s decree.
After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, an the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion. https://t.co/l7M85CyG86

Pelosi continued:
With Roe now out of their way, radical Republicans are charging ahead with their crusade to criminalize health freedom. In the Congress, Republicans are plotting a nationwide abortion ban.
In the states, Republicans want to arrest doctors for offering reproductive care and women for terminating a pregnancy. GOP extremists are even threatening to criminalize contraception, as well as in-vitro fertilization and post-miscarriage care.
Hold the hypocritical bus.
“Radical Republicans are charging ahead with their crusade…” Do you mean like 49 out of 50 Senate Democrats voted in support of abortion until birth? Right before a baby is ready to make its way into the world? Is that “women’s health care”?
Memo to Nancy Pelosi: Killing a fully-developed, about-to-be-born baby is not “terminating a pregnancy.” Do you have even a basic understanding of how obscene that is? Of course, you don’t.
Finally, Madam Speaker went completely off the rails:
A woman’s fundamental health decisions are her own to make, in consultation with her doctor and her loved ones – not to be dictated by far-right politicians. {But an unborn child’s death should be dicated by far-left politicians? Sounds totally legit.]
While Republicans seek to punish and control women, Democrats will keep fighting ferociously to enshrine Roe v. Wade into law. [Wrong, San Fran Nan. Republicans seek to protect those who cannot protect themselves and are the most vulnerable among us: unborn children.]
This cruel ruling is outrageous and heart-wrenching. But make no mistake: the rights of women and all Americans are on the ballot this November. [What is “heart-wrenching,” you hypocrite, is your undying support for on-demand abortion.]
Oh, and make no mistake, Nancy: I await the November midterm results with great anticipation. You?
