Woke NFL Just Keeps Digging: Will Play 'Black National Anthem,' Increase 'Social Justice Messages' This Season

In today’s episode of “Try to Control Your Shock and Amazement,” the National Football League is planning to prostrate itself before the Black Lives Matter altar and pretend-“systemic racism” even more embarrassingly during the 2021 season than the league and its groveling BLM apologist commissioner, Roger Goodell, prostrated themselves last season — an “impressive” feat that will be hard to top.

As reported by Breitbart on Thursday, the NFL will not only churn out more “social justice messages” this season than last season but will also include the “black national anthem” as a “prominent part” of all major NFL events. (Are you thinking what I’m thinking? How much fun it would be to watch the histrionic meltdown if a disgruntled white player takes a knee during the playing of the so-called “black anthem”? Sorry, I digress.)

This, via Front Office Sports:

To reinforce its 10-year, $250 million commitment to combat systemic racism, the league will promote social justice via on-field signage, decals on player helmets, and in-stadium PSAs.

The NFL also plans to make “Lift Every Voice and Sing” — often referred to as the Black national anthem — a prominent part of all big league events, said sources. They will likely highlight victims of racial injustice with a “Say Their Stories” project, as well.

In today’s hyper-partisan media environment, most fans experience football through the prism of television. This year’s renewed social justice messaging efforts will be visible to the 200 million-plus TV viewers who watch game telecasts each season.

A source told Front Office Sports: “They’re bringing back a lot of elements from last year.” I assume that will include slogans on the field similar to those shoved in the faces of fans during the 2020 season.

According to FOS, themes for some of the 2021 campaigns include, “It Takes All of Us,” “End Racism,” and “Inspire Change.” Also, according to the source, all players will be free to protest against America “in any way they choose, as long as the protests are “peaceful.”

Uh-huh. Would could possibly go wrong? Just me, or does anyone think it’s “almost” like Goodell and league officials are trying to flush their TV ratings even further down the woke toilet? To that point, according to FOS:

At the height of player protests during the 2016-17 seasons, the league’s once impregnable TV audiences plummeted 8% and 10% respectively.

As the protests receded, the NFL’s TV audiences bounced back to grow 5% apiece during the 2018-2019 seasons.

But average audiences fell 8% to 15.1 million viewers in 2020 as the league embraced social justice messaging on helmets, warm-up gear, fields and stadiums.

For grins, here’s an example of Goodell’s pathetic groveling in 2020.

“We, the NFL, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black People. We, the NFL, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest. We, the NFL, believe Black Lives Matter.”

I’m just going to leave that there.

“Without Black players, there would be no National Football League,” said Goodell.

OK. So what? We get it. Those of us who have loved and followed the NFL for decades have always known that. Some of our favorite players were Black. (Oops — did I just “patronize” Black America?)

Does Goodell’s “profound” observation mean that simply because of Colin Kaepernick, Black Lives Matter, and the exploitation of George Floyd’s death by the left, a (former) juggernaut professional sports league was compelled to pander to the few and say “the hell with” the many? Flush billions of dollars down the toilet? Drive fans away in droves?

If so, continue to have at it — I will not be watching. And, frankly, (Charlotte), I don’t give a damn.

And just today.

For a guy who continues to trash America at every opportunity, “Kap” doesn’t appear to have a problem with milking it to death and exploiting his “victimhood” at every opportunity, huh?

Your ball, Roger. Knock yourself out.
