Fox News host Tucker Carlson began his opening monologue on Thursday with a simple question. “So why are the Democrats so angry?” “It doesn’t make any sense,” he said.
Setting aside the fact that liberals are, by nature, far more consumed by what angers them than by what makes them happy, Carlson noted that the Democrats “won everything” in November and now have full control of the federal government. “Winning seemed to enrage them even more,” he said — correctly so.
“Did you watch Democrats on televion today during the impeachment hearings? They are crazy-person mad. Florid-faced, Irrational, yelling, making threats. It is bizarre.
“You’d think they’d get to work fixing the country they inherited; they promised to do that. Instead they set about breaking things and hurting people. What is going on here?
“Maybe it’s intrinsic,” he said.
“There’s a certain sort of low-character person who becomes more vicious in victory. Power makes them mean. The Ottomans destroyed the cities they captured.
“There was never a good reason to do this, to kill people who had already been captured and who had surrendered. The Ottomans did it because they enjoyed it.”
Then a beautifully-brutal takedown of Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff.
Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi have a little bit of that in them, it looks like. Imagine being Adam Schiff’s landscaper. Or Nancy Pelosi’s housekeeper. Or anyone at their command.
“Imagine how they treat the staff when no one is watching. Imagine waiting on them in a restaurant. How would they tip? You know the answer.
“They suck up, and they spit down. Jeff Besos is a god to them. You mean nothing.”
The Democrat Party is determined to “construct a world designed to serve Jeff Besos,” he said. “You’re an afterthought in that world.”
Then the reality we are witnessing — which grows ever clearer by the day.
“If you get in the way they will punish you — they already are punishing you. Your right to say and think what you want; to read and watch what you want, threatens them above all.
“Why? Because if you have access to information, you can form your own judgments that are independent of theirs.
“A free Internet is their enemy.”
“The moment the Democrats took power,” Carlson said, “they began a kind of counter-reformation against the Internet. They started the most sweeping mass censorship campaign in the history of this country — and it’s accelerating even now.”

“They will not rest until there is not a single human being remaining in all American media who questions any of the platitudes spouted by leaders on the left,” Carlson said, such as, “Trans rights are human rights” — recently offered up by Jen “Circle Back” Psaki in defense of Biden’s executive order allowing boys to compete on girls’ sports teams, and “Abortion is healthcare,” another reference to the “devout Catholic” Biden, who, with a straight face, declared abortion-on-demand is “an essential health care service.”
“Anyone who mocks or disagrees with the “slogan of the day must be broken,” he said. “In the name of diversity, we must have uniformity. And Fox News is the “most significant hurdle” preventing that from happening.”
Carlson asked his first guest, Federalist co-founder Sean Davis, what he believed the left’s increased level of censorship is all about. Davis first responded with a quote from George Orwell’s “1984”: “‘The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect.’”
Davis said the left is transitioning from authoritarianism to outright totalitarianism, as transcribed by NewsBusters.
“I think it’s about the complete totalitarian takeover of the left in America in 2020 and 2021. And it used to be that there was an authoritarian strain on the left. They wanted to control what you do. You know, ‘Put a mask on!’ ‘Don’t do this!’ ‘You must do that!’
“Totalitarianism is a lot worse and a lot more sinister. They want to control what you say, and they want to control what you think. And they do that because they think they should have total control over everything.”
“When they start banning words they don’t like, they’ll eventually start banning thoughts they don’t like,” Davis said. “This is all about controlling language, to eventually control thoughts, to eliminate ways of expressing things they don’t think you should be thinking.”
“At some point, the revolution is going to end,” Carlson said, taking a shot at “the kids.”
“[T]he kids at Politico and The Daily Beast and CNN and NBC are going to be standing there, and someone’s going to ask them, you know, ‘Why didn’t you say something as they hurt people for saying what they thought was true?’ And what are they going to say, do you think?”
“Oh, they’ll pretend it was somebody else’s fault,” Davis said. “This is what they all do.”
And the band plays on.
Big Tech has conservative writers and talkers by the short ones, guys. They know it. We know it, and they know we know it. Meanwhile, and I speak only for myself, I will continue to do what I do and I will continue to do it the way I’ve always done it.
To that end, the chips will fall where they fall.
