Former First Lady Michelle Obama on Thursday called on Big Tech companies to permanently ban President Donald Trump from their social media platforms — principally because he’s “infantile and unpatriotic.” Can it go downhill from there? Yes.
In a statement posted to social media on Thursday, Obama said the “Capitol riots” were a “fulfillment of the wishes of an infantile and unpatriotic president who can’t handle the truth of his own failures.”

Right. This, from the woman who in March 2008, infamously declared, “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.” No, you were happy because your husband was elected president. Fine.
Same husband, by the way — Barack “If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon” Obama — who spent eight years on his self-gilded throne purposely dividing America along racial lines to a degree at least as divisive as during the 1960s Civil Rights Era.
Yet here’s Mooch, pontificating about permanently banning Trump from social media.
Like all of you, I’ve been feeling so many emotions since yesterday. I tried to put my thoughts down here: pic.twitter.com/9xzRvrpk7y

First the set-up.
“In just a few hours, though, my heart had fallen harder and faster than I can remember. Like all of you, I watched as a gang—organized, violent, and mad they’d lost an election—laid siege to the United States Capitol.
“They set up gallows. [I missed the gallows.] They proudly waved the traitorous flag of the Confederacy through the halls.
“They desecrated the center of American government. And once authorities finally gained control of the situation, these rioters and gang members were led out of the building, not in handcuffs, but free to carry on with their days.”
I’m not a fan at all of whataboutism, but what we have here is “reverse whataboutism.”
Where was Michelle Obama, night after night when Ferguson, Missouri, was on fire; night after nights of riots in the aftermath of the justifiable police action against Michael Brown?
Did she condemn that real violence? Half as much as she condemns the indefensible breach of the U.S. Capitol?
Yet she tried to make it about race.
“It all left me with so many questions—questions about the future, questions about security, extremism, propaganda, and more. But there’s one question I just can’t shake: What if these rioters had been like the folks who go to Ebenezer Baptist Church every Sunday? What would have been different?
“I think we all know the answer. This summer’s Black Lives Matter protests were an overwhelmingly peaceful movement [wait, huh?] —our nation’s largest demonstrations ever, bringing together people of every race and class and encouraging millions to re-examine their own assumptions and behavior” — [stop the tape].
Was she watching the same “overwhelmingly peaceful movement” we were? The looting? The burning? Torching police cars? Randomly murdering police officers? All in the name of so-called “racial justice”? Please.
She continued:
“And yet, in city after city, day after day, we saw peaceful protestors met with brute force. [Hang on: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA] C’mon, Michelle. You’re just messin’ with us now, right?
“We saw cracked skulls and mass arrests, law enforcement pepper-spraying its way through a peaceful demonstration for a presidential photo op.” [I don’t even know what the hell she’s talking about, here.]
No matter; Mooch had Black Lives Matter on her mind and that was all that mattered.
“And for those who call others unpatriotic for simply taking a knee in silent protest, for those who wonder why we need to be reminded that Black Lives Matter at all, yesterday made it painfully clear that certain Americans are, in fact, allowed to denigrate the flag and symbols of our nation. They’ve just got to look the right way. What do all those folks have to say now?”
The revisionist history lesson continued.
“The gulf between the responses to yesterday’s riot and this summer’s peaceful protests and the larger movement for racial justice is so painful,” and maintained that “true progress will be possible only once we acknowledge that this disconnect exists and take steps to repair it.”
And then the hammer.
“Now is the time for Silicon Valley companies to stop enabling this monstrous behavior—and go even further than they have already by permanently banning this man from their platforms and putting in place policies to prevent their technology from being used by the nation’s leaders to fuel insurrection.”
In other words, we have a former First Lady of the United States calling on Big Tech to permanently ban a soon-to-be-former president of the United States from its social media platforms. Calling on Silicon Valley to further be the sole arbiter of the dissemination and/or suppression of which legal material their customers are allowed to view on the respective platforms, vs. which legal material they — and presumably Michelle Obama — view as “monstrous” and capable of “fueling insurrection.”
Scary stuff. With scarier stuff to come.
