Guess Which NY Governor Who Ordered Nursing Homes to Accept COVID Patients Is Being Considered for Attorney General by Joe Biden?

Hey, it’s 2020. What else would we expect?

So what if an addled old man who probably thinks he’s been re-elected to the Senate, doesn’t know which state he’s in half the time, and thinks everyone is entitled to “badakathcare,” is considering for attorney general a self-aggrandizing governor who not only ordered nursing homes to admit COVID patients, resulting in more than 6,000 deaths, but also wrote a book about the “leadership” lessons he learned from the pandemic?

Business as usual, if you ask me.

So yeah, the media-declared president-elect is reportedly considering Andrew Cuomo, New York’s tone-deaf, self-enamored governor, for attorney general of the United States, among a handful of other equally “qualified” people.

The other contenders under consideration by Biden (at the moment) are outgoing Alabama Sen. Doug Jones, federal appeals court judge Merrick Garland, and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, as reported by the Associated Press.

A source told AP that no decision had been reached and no announcement was expected imminently. AP also reported it was “immediately clear” if Cuomo would accept the nomination if offered.

It was also not immediately clear how seriously Cuomo was being considered or how any nomination of him would be greeted by either Republicans, given Cuomo’s antagonistic relationship with President Donald Trump, or by civil rights activists who have encouraged Biden to build a diverse cabinet.

[“Encouraged” = Demanded.]

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who was among advocates who met with Biden on Tuesday on the subject of diversity and civil rights, told reporters he had encouraged Biden to select a Black attorney general but gave him room to select someone of another race as long as they had a background in civil rights.

[You know, because Eric “My People” Holder did such a phenomenal job as Barack “If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon” Obama’s AG.]

Cuomo has been asked in recent weeks about his interest in the attorney general spot. Just this week, he said in a public radio interview in New York, “I have no intention to run for president or vice president, or go to the administration.” But he said the attorney general job “is really critical, especially now.”

[Spoiler: He’d jump all over it like Michael Moore on a party-size pizza — with extra cheese.]

A former state attorney general and Housing and Urban Development secretary in the Clinton administration, Cuomo has been governor of New York since 2011 and has been the public face of the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

[And what a stellar public face of the COVID pandemic Cuomo has been.]

The gang over at Breitbart thinks Cuomo would be a “perfect” choice. [sarc]

“If Cuomo was nominated, he would face a tough confirmation fight,” Breitbart suggested, “as the New York governor has become a controversial proponent of draconian coronavirus lockdowns in the state.” (More on that very “issue,” at the end.)

So would he or wouldn’t he accept the AG nomination? In an October interview, “Today” host Willie “What’s his name” asked Cuomo the same question:

“If your friend Joe Biden came to you if he were elected and said ‘Governor, I’d like you to be my attorney general,’ you would say what?”

Cuomo played coy, grinning ear-to-ear, in his response.

“I would say you are an old friend, you are a good friend, you’re going to win this election, you’re going to be the president, I’ll help you any way I can.

“I’m a New Yorker, I said I would serve as governor, and those rumors are from people, Willie, who only want to get me out of New York. I don’t know why [hahahaha], but that’s where that’s coming from.

“I have no interest in going to Washington…”

Again, see: “Michael Moore, party-size pizza, extra cheese.”

Uh-huh. We’ll see.

Final thoughts.

There is a long and storied history of politicians saying they wouldn’t run for this, or accept a nomination for that, only to later run for “this” or accept a nomination for “that.”

But here’s the thing with Andrew Cuomo.

The King of Albany is drunk with power, running his own Kingdom of New York as he sees fit. One wave of the Draconian Sceptor and the Grand Poobah of the Empire State gets his way, as he sends the elderly to their deaths in nursing homes, starves New York City bars and restaurants out of business, and jumps ugly on Comrade Big Bird — AKA: Hapless New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio — often solely for the purpose of passing the buck.

With the allure of the job of the attorney general of the United States and all the power it would afford him, Cuomo, in the end, — if asked by the addled old man to take the job — would choose to remain the big buck-passing fish in his small New York koi pond.

As Breitbart suggested, Cuomo’s draconian lockdowns have long been controversial in the eyes of his New York “subjects.”
