This is getting embarrassing, sports fans. Another day, another level of pandering prostration by the National Basketball Association.
As reported by ESPN, Monday night, the NBA is planning to paint “Black Lives Matter” on all three basketball courts when the 2020 season resumes at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, on July 30.
The league’s latest example of capitulation to Black Lives Matter and so-called “systemic racism” comes on the heels of an announcement that players will have the option of replacing their name on the back of their jersey with a “social justice statement” as we reported, Sunday.
The National Basketball Players Association has demanded that the league highlight the fight for “racial equality” and “social justice” as a condition for players to return to the court — and “highlight” it, is has.
The NBA is planning to paint "Black Lives Matter" on the court inside both sidelines in all three arenas it will use at the Walt Disney World Resort, league sources told @ramonashelburne and @ZachLowe_NBA. https://t.co/UVKiCMHnEy

The league’s latest bow to the “social justice movement” was met with mixed reviews on Twitter, with some people in support of the move, generally by taking shots at “MAGA racists” and others who oppose it.
The “I ain’t watching the NBA no more” MAGA racists incoming tweets in 3.. 2.. 1..

Here comes the Sunglasses Brigade to tell us all how they won’t be watching. Good, the NBA doesn’t need racists.

But the majority of responses on the thread went something like this:
Awesome divide us all even more

Thats is that. BOYCOTT THE @NBA for this racist move.

#BLM is a lie. It has nothing to do with “racial injustice.” See for yourself: pic.twitter.com/uZmgzKSXCi

No. Just play sports. Don’t lecture me. Don’t virtue signal for me. Don’t tell me how I should think about something. Just. Play. Sports. That’s it.

Shouldn’t it say Some Black Lives Matter.

To SPIN’s point, where is Black Lives Matter’s condemnation of the continuing black-on-black murder on Chicago’s bloody South Side?
As we reported earlier this month, Chicago suffered its deadliest gun-violence weekend of the year as protests over the death of George Floyd raged. Final count: 24 people killed and at least 61 injured.
Just two weekends later, at least 106 people were shot in Chicago, of which 14 — not 13 — died.
At least 106 people were shot in Chicago this weekend. 13 of those victims have died. It is the most people shot in one weekend since at least 2012 — but not the city’s deadliest weekend this year. https://t.co/4asNTHFu4B

Where were Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Louis Farrakhan?
Where was South-Sider Barack Obama, who represented Illinois’s 1st congressional district in the House? Same guy who exploited the deaths of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, among others — not to mention every mass shooting he could get away with politicizing?
Where were Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Maxine Waters, and the entirety of the Democrat Party?
Where were CNN, MSNBC, and The New York Times?
WHERE WAS THE NBA?
[Cue the crickets.]
The not-so-secret secret is this: Condemnation of black-on-black violent crime would be counterproductive to the Left’s narrative.
There are no Black Lives Matter protests, no NBA basketball court sidelines painted with grim statistics, no jerseys emblazoned with “social justice” statements in support of the out-of-control murder of young black men on Chicago’s South Side streets.
After all, how could “white supremacy” and “systemic racism” be blamed for blacks murdering blacks? Wait — never mind.
