Update: SWAT Recovers Hostages in Jacksonville, FL Bank Robbery

First Coast News in Jacksonville, Florida is reporting an active shooter situation at Community First Credit Union.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — First Coast News is on the scene of a hostage situation at Community First Credit Union.

Police are asking people around the area to stay inside as this is a very active and dangerous scene.

The credit union is located at 1623 Edgewood Ave. A witness tells First Coast News there are several fire trucks, police on scene and says traffic is backed up near the area.

Police on scene tell us there is an active shooter and the suspect does have hostages inside. Our reporter on scene says the suspect is inside the bank. JSO confirms the incident is confined to inside the bank.

As of 10:02 a.m. Swat equipment is heading to credit union to where suspect is held up.

No DCPS schools are on lockdown because the shooter is contained inside the bank.

This appears to have turned into a hostage situation with some reports of shots fired inside the credit union.

The Jacksonville Police just sent out this tweet, suggesting they’ve recovered the hostages. SWAT was on the scene.

And now we have reports that SWAT has brought the hostages to safety.
