President Joe Biden's performance in the major presidential polls is showing very concerning numbers for Biden and his Vice President, Kamala Harris, and the GOP is watching closely in hopes of beating out Biden in 2024. In the most recent New York Times/Siena Poll, Biden's numbers are sinking, and sinking fast. While the polling sampled just over 3,600 people across six battleground states, the polls were very resoundingly negative for not just President Biden but for his entire administration and the direction they are taking the country in. While Former President Donald Trump showing his polling numbers are increasing, albeit not as high as he would like, he is still leading nonetheless. Likely voters indicated that if the election were held today, 48 percent would take Trump over Biden's 45 percent.
But that is not where Biden's problems end. More and more surveys show Biden now losing to Trump in 11 out of 13 just-released polls. As mentioned above, even though Trump's lead is small, it is trending higher as time goes on. President Biden has been on a downward slide over the past year, and Trump is capitalizing on those numbers in a big way.
And while polls suggest most of the movement comes from voters abandoning Biden — who might become undecided but not swing to supporting Trump — the Republican has also started to gain steam. Trump’s vote share in the national polling average is higher now than at any point in the past year. The state-level data are just as striking: In addition to those New York Times/Siena polls, within the last week and a half, other surveys have shown Trump ahead by 8 points in Arizona and 5 points up in Michigan.
President Biden is also losing on the age metric, with Donald Trump taking the lead on the young adult polling numbers as well. Swing state voters are also dumping Biden for Trump, or at the very least moving away from Biden to the undecided camp of likely voters. After the DNC spent nearly $12 million on television ads in swing states, and with Biden spending roughly $1 million since August, polls are now showing Biden losing six out of the seven states surveyed by Morning Consult.

The poll numbers are not the only problem for President Biden. Former White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson, who was the Physician to the President for former Presidents Obama and Trump, is claiming that Biden's mental acuity and general cognitive condition are deteriorating rapidly. Jackson, who is also a Republican Congressman for Texas' 13th district, says that Biden's condition is worsening at an alarming rate.
[The decline is] happening quickly. Like you said, I've taken care of three presidents … so I know firsthand what it takes to be the commander-in-chief and the head of state. It's a grueling job, both mentally and physically. This man can't do the job. He's proven to us every single day that he can't do the job, but this is going to get worse.
The Democrats know it. We know it. They know we know it. Yet, in a creepy "Emperor's New Clothes" way, they pretend to ignore it. That concerns Jackson.
It's just unbelievable how much he's degenerated just during his time in office. We cannot afford to have this man in office for the remainder of this term and then [for] another four years after that. He's already putting us at great risk right now.
With the polls showing support for Biden is crumbling, more and more concerns over his mental state and his overall ability to conduct the duties of the President, what more can get worse for Biden? Enter Vice President Kamala Harris and her dreadful polling and popularity numbers. Every single measurable metric shows Kamala Harris doing worse than Biden AND Trump. On a Real Clear Politics poll, Harris has a 36.5 percent favorability rating compared to Biden and Trump's roughly 40 percent tie.
To say that Vice President Harris has underperformed as the sitting VP would be an understatement. Her public speeches or commentary are filled with literary nonsense, gaffs, and or cringeworthy attempts at humor. As far as her official roles are concerned, she has utterly failed every assignment that was given to her by Biden. Most notable was her appointment as the "Border Czar," where she was physically and mentally absent on the issue for months. She only visited the border roughly three months after her appointment and famously said "don't come" to people looking to enter the United States illegally. In fact, Harris hasn't returned to the border since then, and that comes amid over two years of record-breaking numbers of illegal border crossings ever recorded.
The problem that President Biden has is that he cannot get rid of Harris as his running mate. This hasn't been done since President Franklin Roosevelt and his three different Vice Presidents. Not only that but for Biden to dump Harris, the ideological left would cry foul because "an old white man fired a young woman of color." The optics of that are just too harsh for anyone, let alone Biden, in today's charged political climate. He is stuck with her unless he bows out after the primaries, which would then set up a battle between Kamala Harris and her presumed challenger, California Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom, according to senior democrat operatives in California, is 100 percent going to run if Biden steps out. It will be then that Newsom and Harris will stop being friends and become "frenemies."
Will the GOP be able to capitalize on the apparent deadly trifecta of bad news for Biden and Harris? As far as the polls go, the chances are trending in the right direction for them. However, the GOP, along with the RNC, have a lot of work on their hands in order to make that happen.
