Trump: "Look at Ted Cruz, Campaigning with that Wacko Glenn Beck"

A pretty good rule of thumb in 2016 is that if you’re seen sharing the same stage with a barely-coherent Sarah Palin, you do not get to call anyone else’s campaign surrogates “Wacko,” regardless of who they are. I mean, at this point, Cruz could be campaigning with Miley Cyrus and Trump would basically have to suck it up and say, “well, I’ve done worse.”

Trump, though, has never been very high on self-awareness, so he’s decided to make fun of Cruz for touring with Glenn Beck, who he called a “Wacko.”

Donald Trump mocked Glenn Beck’s planned appearances with Ted Cruz in Iowa in the coming days, portraying it as a “sad answer” to Sarah Palin’s endorsement of his own candidacy earlier this week.

“Wacko @glennbeck is a sad answer to the @SarahPalinUSA endorsement that Cruz so desperately wanted,” Trump tweeted Thursday morning. “Glenn is a failing, crying, lost soul!”

Glenn Beck is not to everyone’s taste, but when he appears on stage, he speaks in complete sentences that make coherent sense. Moreover, his points originate from actual conservative principles rather than from a desire to increase his reality TV ratings.

Beck has gained a ton of respect from me over the last year and I hope when all the dust from this horrible campaign has settled, he emerges with his star and his ratings brighter than some who have clearly sold their soul and their respectability for ratings. And as between him and Palin, I know I would rather share a stage with Beck any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
