Has Caitlyn Jenner hit pause on the race to replace Gavin Newsom as governor of California?

The former Olympian and transgender Republican will be leaving California to participate in filming of the upcoming season of “Celebrity Big Brother Australia”, in the middle of one the most heated political races in the nation.

FoxLA’s Elex Michaelson broke the news on Twitter, saying Jenner would be out of the state for several weeks for filming.

Jenner claims that the trip was planned before any declarations in the governor’s race were made, and also claims that the campaign is not on hold. Jenner claims this is a “previous work commitment” that will not interfere with the campaign.

It isn’t unthinkable that one would want to honor contractual obligations made prior to announcing any intentions to run for political office. However, it is unthinkable that in a race with a mere 60 days to go, one of the most well-known candidates is choosing to leave the state they are running in for “several weeks” to complete other work.

Does Jenner truly expect to “save CA” by fleeing the state for nearly the entire campaign?

The California recall election is scheduled to take place September 14th.
