What Does It Look Like to Be Red AND Black? This New Show Aims to Shed Some Light

It seems like we’re all doing a lot of talking these days, but how many people are really saying something? As a writer and pundit, I have always felt my responsibility to advance the conversation, not simply to dig in to a marketable position and stay put. The present cultural tumult makes it more important than ever to be highlighting voices who seek honesty and solutions — two sides of the same coin. There is a diversity of thought in this country that has not traditionally been represented.

I’m proud to be a part of a new streaming show that seeks to change that while being engaged in real talk about achievable solutions. “Red + Black” features four of our own contributors here at Redstate — Jeff Charles, Lenny McCallister, Christopher Arps, and, of course, myself. The weekly half-hour offering takes on topics from race to current events to pop culture in a lightning round, quick-hit commentary style that is fast enough to be entertaining but thoughtful enough to be provoking.

Four Black conservatives with tons of differing opinions. This week’s inaugural episode even stirred up a pretty heated disagreement about pancake syrup.

We’re excited to be on the leading edge of commentary with this new offering and invite you to view, subscribe, and share.

This week on Red + Black.

  • President Tim Scott?
  • Colin Kaepernick – will the R+B team go back to NFL viewing if Kaep gets a job? How will kneeling affect our fandom?
  • Aunt Jemima – is it just about syrup?
