Actor George Takei recently tweeted about a popular fantasy of the Left wing: Trump refusing to relinquish the Presidency in the case of his defeat at the ballot box. It’s been a fan favorite of the progressive set since before the votes were even counted in 2016. Such a fantastical projection is the political equivalent of “cutting”. It’s an exercise in self-harm that brings a perverse gratification and satisfaction, based in nothing more than one’s own need to feel pain in order to feel worthy.
But that’s not all it is. Takei’s tweet and the sentiment he shares with his leftist friends is also an unknowing endorsement of our second amendment.
We have a second amendment precisely for situations like this. It is our civil defense against tyranny, our God-given right to raise hell if our government ever gets any crazy ideas like the ones the Left dreams about. Often when I’m arguing in favor of our second amendment rights, gun control enthusiasts will counter with, “Do you seriously think our government is going to suddenly turn into a tyranny and start rounding up citizens?” and response is always the same:
No….and there’s a reason I don’t think the government is in danger of turning into a military state ruled by a tyrant. It’s called the second amendment. The reason people think it’s a silly idea is that our culture is steeped in the safety of our right to bear arms. The second amendment is exactly what makes such a concept laughable and unthinkable.
Of course Takei and company are the same people who are trying to tell us that Trump is mere months away from going full dictator and electrocuting gay people on the streets of the nation’s capitol. If Trump’s Imperial Forces march into my home and announce that he has decided to reinstate slavery beginning with us, the George Takei’s of the country have already indicated they plan to just sit back and let it happen. If they were truly worried about such a scenario they’d be doing everything they can to protect the second amendment.
Takei wants to know if people plan to take to the streets in the event his fantasy comes true. I want to know which weapons he and his friends would prefer to fight back with – posters or guns?
If the Left is truly serious about their worst Trump fears, I’ve got a message for all of them:
Some of us are fighting for your right violently defend yourselves and your families from the Big Orange Dictator should it come down to that. Get on board! Stop whining.
Oh, and everything’s going to be just fine, ya weirdos.
