The state of California has been proudly defying federal law since President Trump first took office.

The state-sanctioned #Resist movement has established sanctuary cities, threatened to fire state employees who aid ICE in identifying illegal aliens being processed through court system for violent crimes, issues driver’s licenses for illegals and uses taxpayer money to fund legal defenses for illegal aliens.

It is the height of disregard and disrespect for their law-abiding citizens, but have we come to expect anything less from the Golden State?

If you thought the bar couldn’t be lowered anymore, you’d be wrong.

In a political “hold my beer” moment, the government of California has appointed an illegal alien to a state position. No, this is is not a joke and you have not misread…an open and admitted illegal resident of the United States is being employed by California.

For the first time in California’s history, the state has appointed an undocumented resident to a statewide post, announcing the decision just a day after President Donald Trump attacked its immigration approach during a visit to San Diego.

The decision made by the Senate Rules Committee on Wednesday saw Lizbeth Mateo, a 33-year-old attorney and immigrant rights activist, appointed to serve on a committee that helps increase college access for students from low-income or underserved communities.

In announcing the decision, Senate President pro tempore Kevin de León appeared to recognize the move as an act of defiance in the face of the Trump administration’s current immigration crackdown.

“While Donald Trump fixates on walls, California will continue to concentrate on opportunities,” de León told The Sacramento Bee in a statement. “Ms. Mateo is a courageous, determined and intelligent young woman who at great personal risk has dedicated herself to fight for those seeking their rightful place in this country.”

Mateo said she welcomed the opportunity, telling the newspaper, “While undocumented students have become more visible in our state, they remain under-represented in places where decisions that affect them are being made.”

The attorney was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, and came to the U.S. with her parents when she was just 14 years old. She went on to develop a passion for law and became the first person in her family to graduate from college, receiving her degree from Santa Clara University law school in 2016 and passing the California bar last year, according to her legal firm’s website. She was officially sworn in by de León on June 29, 2017.

The only people “fixated” on anything in this state are the likes of the contemptible De Leon and his cohorts in Sacramento who seem unable to give up their Trump Derangement Syndrome long enough to serve the people who actually elected them.

The anti-illegal immigration group Fight Sanctuary State released a statement protesting the decision, saying Mateo was not a legal resident and has not displayed an attitude that might indicate she would uphold the laws of the United States.

People who come here illegally do not have a “rightful place” in this country. Mateo came to the United States when she was “only” 14 years old, speaks fluent Spanish, and the flag she waved and the country she thanked at her law school graduation was NOT the United States.

Fight Sanctuary State co-founder Don Rosenberg’s son was killed by an illegal alien. Of Mateo’s appointment, Rosenberg says: “If Ms. Mateo is so ‘dedicated to Oaxaca, Mexico,’ she should return to Oaxaca and practice there. Unlike Mexico, California is not in need of more attorneys, especially attorneys who do not believe in or adhere to the laws of the United States.”

The move is unsurprising but deeply insulting to legal California residents who also may have been qualified for the position. It insults taxpayers who are worrying about droughts, potholes, homeless encampments and a shocking rise in crime across the state. It insults anyone with a working brain who knows the difference between being legally qualified to work in America and not being legally qualified to work in America.

Worst of all, it endangers this young woman’s residency and purposefully uses her as bait as ICE authorities have been going to great lengths to make it clear that California politics do not trump federal law.
