The Betsy DeVos hearings are underway and questioning is just beginning following a positive round of introduction. Noted and respected school choice activist Senator Tim Scott had the privilege of introducing Ms.DeVos. Scott has known the Michigan billionaire for years as they have both been prominent in the movement.

Scott’s remarks were mercifully short. He seems to be the rare Senator who understands the hearings are about the nominee, not grandstanding for one’s own pet-issues and camera time. But they were sweet. Scott spoke of DeVos’ kindness, her humble beginnings and her passionate focus on the issue of civil rights in education. As usual, Scott was the voice of calm, reason and succinctness.
