President Donald Trump has found massive success in the nation's capital with cutting crime after the federalization of law enforcement in D.C., and now Maryland's Democrat Governor Wes Moore admits he would love Trump's help on crime. But there's a catch.
Speaking to Fox News' Will Cain on "The Will Cain Show," Moore was asked why he wouldn't welcome the "President of the United States" to help with crime in Maryland, with Baltimore ranking "third in the nation in violent crime rate per capita."

"The truth isn't partisan, and the truth is most of the major cities in the United States are run by Democrat governors," the Fox News host added. "And they are also the highest-rate crime cities in the country."
"I would absolutely welcome federal support," the Democrat governor said.
Moore's response clearly shocked Cain, who said, "There we go. You would welcome the federal support. That's wonderful to hear. I'm sure the president will be happy to hear that."
The two men ended up mostly talking over each other, making it hard to hear what they were saying. However, it sounded like Moore said that while he would "absolutely welcome the federal support," there was a big "but" in there, that it was going to be on his terms.
"But I also know what federal support is going to be necessary and required," the governor said. "It's the reason that I said we would love to have additional support for license plate readers. Things that we know can actually stop crimes as they are happening, and making sure the people are brought to justice."
Yes, he really did just say for licence plate readers. But he wasn't done yet, and just like all Democrats do, there was a catch to his support. The last line in his comments was the kicker.
"The idea of bringing the National Guard is the one that I question," Moore replied.
The host pointed out that Moore couldn't allow that to be "an excuse" to reject the solution being offered currently by the federal government to reduce crime.

As my RedState colleague Nick Arama reported, even the Democratic D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has come around to what Trump's surge of officers has done to massively reduce crime in the nation's capital.

We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city. The most significant thing that we are highlighting today is the area of crime that was most troubling for us in 2023," Bowser said. "Now, we have driven it down over the last years … But for carjackings, the difference between this period, this 20-day period of this federal surge, and last year represents a 87% reduction in carjackings in Washington, D.C."
"We know that when carjackings go down, when the use of gun goes down, when homicide or robbery go down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer," she continued. "So this surge has been important to us for that reason."
The question about increasing law enforcement in crime-ridden blue cities across the country follows the success President Trump has had in D.C., after he federalized the local law enforcement for 30 days to crack down on crime.
I seem to recall President Trump saying something on the campaign trail like "success" will unite us." Maybe he's right yet again.
