White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt torched legacy media for perpetuating the Russian Collusion hoax that upended President Donald Trump's first term and called for awards connected to the manufactured scandal to be stripped from those journalists.

During a White House Press Briefing on Wednesday, Leavitt addressed the newly declassified report released by the Director of the Department of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, which she said confirms former President Barack Obama and his national security team cooked up the intelligence that led to the years-long Russiagate.

The tweet continues:

"Reporters at legacy outlets...were ridiculously awarded Pulitzer prizes for their perpetuation of this hoax. It's well past time for those awards to be stripped from the journalists that received them.

"This is truly one of the greatest political scandals in American history," Leavitt told the press. "And reporters at legacy outlets, some of which are sitting in this room today, like The New York Times and The Washington Post, were ridicuously awarded Pulitzer prizes for their perpetuation of this hoax."

"It's well past time for those awards to be stripped from the journalist who received them," she added. "It is not journalism to propagate political disinformation in service of the Democrat Party and those in the intelligence community who hand over out-of-context and fake intelligence to push a false political narrative."

Leavitt's comments came following further information from Gabbard earlier on Wednesday, which she said shows the former president and his administration's direct involvement in the 2016 post-presidential election Russia hoax, as my RedState colleague Rusty Weiss reported.

Gabbard, describing the plot as the "most egregious weaponization and politicization of intelligence in American history," posted a series of lies which have, in her view, been debunked by declassifying a 2020 House Intelligence Committee report.

The report was an assessment of how the Obama administration manufactured a January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, which portrayed Russia as having influenced the 2016 election in favor of Donald Trump.

That assessment was "false," Gabbard writes, noting that the Obama administration "conspired to subvert the will of the American people," and, working in conjunction with a willfully ignorant media, staged "a years-long coup against" Trump.

President Trump has also weighed in on the documents released by Gabbard and blasted Obama's actions as "treason."

"If you look at that, those papers, they have him stone cold. And it was President Obama," Trump told reporters. "Look, he's guilty. It's not a question. I like to say, let's give it time, but it's there; he's guilty. They ... this was treason, this was every word you can think of."
