President Donald Trump rolled out his favorite songs, “Y.M.C.A.” and “God Bless the USA,” during his speech in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, and those in attendance loved it.
On Tuesday, Trump attended the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh and spoke to a room full of Saudi business investors with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, in attendance. President Trump spoke about America’s plans for success under his administration and his vision for a peaceful and prosperous Middle East.
Trump opened his speech with Lee Greenwood’s famous patriotic song playing. As the entire song played, the president stood on the stage before he took to the podium.
And as the final line in the song, “God Bless the USA” played, those in attendance went crazy. (1:48:20 mark for EDs)
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy said the audience, made up of prominent businessmen from Saudi Arabia and the U.S., “didn’t take their seats” during the entire song.
After his speech, the president was joined on stage by the Saudi Crown Prince as the Village People's 1978 hit "Y.M.C.A." played in the background. Those in the room gave the president a standing ovation.
It looked and sounded very similar to what Trump supporters experienced during the 2024 election, as Trump went from one rally to another, speaking about his vision as those songs opened and closed his events.
However, there was one noticeable difference at the speech in Riyadh because Trump did not show off his dance moves during the Village People’s hit. For those who might have forgotten, it was Trump’s unique moving and shaking to the song that went viral in the lead-up to the election and after his victory against Vice President Kamala Harris.

At the time, a Sky News report covered the dance craze post-election with the release of a great video:
"Donald Trump's iconic dance moves are sweeping the internet and winning him a lot of fans across the globe," the segment states. "Trump's dance moves were on show throughout and even after his election."
Sky News notes that "everyone wants to hop on the bandwagon," and the video even features two of their anchors doing the dance.
Go ahead. Play that video and try not to "move it, move it." We dare you.
TikToks featuring athletes, influencers, and even regular folks doing celebrations with Trump’s moves were everywhere at the time, with San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa starting the trend, as we reported.

The league fined Bosa a hefty sum for crashing a post-game interview while wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat. So when he next took the field, he opted for the Trump dance instead.
The viral videos even allowed the 70s hit to shoot up the charts:
YMCA has topped the charts 40 [sic] years after its release thanks to an online dance sensation started by Donald Trump...
YMCA shot up the Billboard dance/electronic sales chart as polling day approached on Nov 5, and finally hit number one following Mr Trump’s victory the week of Nov 17.
Victor Willis, the lead singer of the Village People who once asked the president-elect to stop playing their music, said he used to think Mr Trump would tire of the song. “But that never happened,” he added.
Mr Trump’s rigid dance moves, which generally involves waving his arms above his head and pumping his fist, has prompted imitators from across social media and sport.
