Andrew Yang : New And Somewhat Deranged Democrat.
In recent years the Democratic party faces have changed radically. Quite frankly there are people acting as front men that make Maxine Waters look like Dorothy Parker at the Algonquin Roundtable and your typical H.P. Lovecraft character seem the picture of mental health.
Mr. Yang’s campaign and it’s positions are certain some of the odder ones to ever actually be part of a Major Party (And this is America we do crazy real well). Lets look at some of his key issues.
Circumcision: No that’s not a typo. For a guy who’s party’s motto is keep the government out of the bedroom he actually wants to put it into your shorts and make circumcising children a matter of state policy. Well nobody has ever seriously accused Democrats of consistency or integrity.
The Democratic candidate revealed in a little-noticed tweet last week that he was against the ritualized practice of cutting a newborn’s foreskin. But in an interview with The Daily Beast, he said that if he were elected he would incorporate that view into public policy, mainly by pushing initiatives meant to inform parents that they don’t need to have their infants circumcised for health reasons.
Word is he is actually going to debate Ben Shapiro on this topic Joy the first debate of this campaign will be Yang on the Wang. Funny yes, sad even more so, that we have reached point where people look to the federal government to control absolutely everything and get involved in things it has no business with at all.
Robots: #21stCenturyProblems: Continuing the great tradition of turning things into problems so the government can get involved with , while ignoring actual problems, he has robots.
He’ll say the greatest threat to America — and the reason he’s running for the highest office in the land — is how unprepared the country is for the automation of the American workforce. No other candidate is stressing that point. And now, after reaching the Democratic National Committee’s threshold of 65,000 unique donors, he qualifies to take his case to the Democratic primary debate stage.
I would say the reason that no other Democratic candidate is stressing this point is they aren’t as crazy but that’s not true, they are just crazy about different things. Just to point out the obvious here robots aren’t a problem yet, they almost certainly never will be, and if we try to limit how they are used economically in this country they will be used in other countries the exact same way to our detriment. It’s a non issue but it does beg the question, “How many people think we are living in a bad science fiction movie ? and when did this happen ?”. I really blame the environmentalists for this. They have managed to scare the crap out of people over the last 6 or 7 apocalypses that never happened and now people are jumping at their shadows.
Universal Income To Appease NAZIS: At this point you may be wondering if these are robot NAZIs and have they been circumcised or not ? It gets better than that because he counts “White Nationalists” as his fans.
He claims those who harbor such sentiments have “no place in American society.” But Yang also sees his far-right supporters as products of a “hyper-corporatized version of capitalism” set to further displace millions of workers in retail, fast food and transportation.
“I do think economic insecurity can fuel a mindset of scarcity that then helps lead to xenophobia and racism and hatred,” continued the candidate. “If you can’t pay your bills and you feel like your future and your family’s future are insecure, and someone comes along and says ‘It’s their fault,’ you’re more likely to respond negatively to a group. I think getting off people’s throats through the ‘Freedom Dividend’ of $1,000 per month might actually help make people more reasonable and generous and accepting.”
OK, You’re a ticked off NAZI that’s upset about robots, here’s a thousand bucks a month to put towards your opiate addiction , just don’t blame immigrants ? Well I have no idea how this could go badly.
Thought Crime: Paging Mr. Yang, 1984 called, it says it was never meant to be a how to book.
Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang says the federal government will punish media companies for the spread of misinformation if he wins in 2020.
Yang’s proposal would introduce “penalties for persistent and destructive misstatements that undermine public discourse,” according to his campaign website.“We must introduce both a means to investigate and punish those who are seeking to misinform the American public. If enough citizens complain about a particular source of information and news is demonstrably and deliberately false, there should be penalties,” Yang explains on his website.

Maybe the Democrats need to invest in getting ebook versions of the constitution for their party and possibly making certain the people they put up for office can actually pass a citizenship test (Just in the name of civic virtue). While I am not a lawyer you really don’t need to be to see that this clearly violates the constitution, our common law, and what we expect are our rights. He absolutely wants to deprive the people of the right to be wrong . If you go for just things that are objectively testable, this will wreak holy havoc on his own party. Start to go for the subjective and we can all expect the punishment brigades at our doors. It’s hard to contemplate how anyone can think this is a good idea.
He Will Be On The Stage For The Debates: He has over 65,000 individual donors so far making him eligible for the Democratic Debates. This will be absolutely wonderful as they will either shut him down or otherwise screw him over. While this will preserve their image with people that aren’t looking closely, it will alienate their actual base which more and more is actually coming to believe in this kind of insanity. What’s more he is just one of a nearly endless stream of crazy people vying for the nomination and all backed by significant portions of the Democratic party. 2020 is going to make 2016 look sedate and dignified by comparison.
Drink up That’s it for the Watercooler today. As always it’s an open thread
