Evangelicals Overwhelmingly Back Trump
75% view him favorably, 22% view the president unfavorably this according to a recent poll by PRI. While the numbers from this poll are fun conversation starters, what’s more interesting is the reactions they are provoking from various factions. The Left is typically going insane over this, while various evangelical groups are showing a remarkable amount of pragmatism and common sense in dealing with our country’s political realities.
PRRI reported that “white evangelical support for Donald Trump has steadily increased over time.” Trump never reached 50 percent favorability among white evangelicals during the 2016 primary season, but by the early fall of 2016, he racked up 61 percent. By the inauguration, 68 percent of white evangelicals viewed him favorably, and that number hit 74 percent in February 2017. Since then, it has not fallen below 65 percent.
On the flip side, many on the Left excoriate evangelical Christians as hypocritical supporters of the morally compromised president. The far-Left Southern Poverty Law Center has suggested that politically active conservative Christians are bent on establishing Christian “dominionism” over the federal government.
Trump-supporting evangelicals claim the imprimatur of biblical Christianity for their politics, while those on the Left see Trump as proof that white evangelicals are backward: racist, sexist, anti-LGBT, and generally hateful. Neither of these narratives is correct.
The left’s reaction to these numbers and Trump in general is telling and entirely expected. They are fine with conservatives that don’t actually get in their way, but heaven forbid anyone actually wants to use the right to freedom of religion or points out the fact that arranging society to benefit a few percent of the population that are arguably mentally ill is a silly game.
The rising support from the evangelical community marks a sea change. It’s impossible to think of an earlier president that could thrive in the face of the continuous stream of ginned up scandals that president Trump has. I’d argue that this isn’t a change in morality but rather a change in what can be expected of politician and the role of the president in insuring public morality.
Last week, a Winthrop University poll found that nearly 75 percent of South Carolina’s white evangelicals say Trump stands for their values. Even so, less than half of them said it was accurate or somewhat accurate to call Trump “godly,” “Christian,” or “moral.” A full 36 percent of them said describing Trump as godly would be “very inaccurate.
Reading that you have to take away people are more concerned about having a nation where a Godly life can be led, rather than having a personally pious leader who isn’t doing much to help people lead a good life.
Did McCabe Issue A Stand Down In Email Investigation ?

McCabe is already facing potential criminal charges for lying under oath about leaks he made to the Wall Street Journal in 2016 regarding the FBI’s investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
The stand-down order allegedly came after the New York Times first reported that Hillary Clinton had used an unsecure personal email account for State Department business in March of 2015, but before the official investigation was requested by the Justice Department in July 2015.
According to Carter’s sources, McCabe was overseas when the story broke and sent electronic communications to underlings “voicing his displeasure.”
“McCabe tried to steer people off the private email investigation and that appears to be obstruction and should be investigated,” a former FBI official with knowledge of the investigation told Carter. “Now if the information on the ‘stand-down’ order is obtained by the IG that could bring a whole lot of other troubles to McCabe.”
The Email story has truly been the gift that keeps giving. Unfortunately due to the media being the Clinton’s conjoined twin we haven’t seen either the prosecutions or the changes in the structure of government needed to fix the problems that have been revealed. We still have out of control prosecutors, special prosecutors whose sole mission is political witch hunts.
