BREAKING: Reports of Rocket Fire at American Airbase in Iraq

There are unconfirmed reports of explosions at Ain Al-Asad airbase in Iraq, which houses U.S. forces.

Al Jazeera first reported the news on Monday afternoon, though there is currently no confirmation of the attack.

There is very little information on the attack at the time, with the only major news outlets confirming it at first being Al Jazeera and Iran-backed Mehr News.

The Jerusalem Post is also sharing some information, though there is not much to go on here, either.

Two Katyusha rockets were fired at Iraq's Ain al-Asad air base on Monday, which hosts US and other international forces in western Iraq, security sources said.

It was not clear if the attack caused any casualties or damage inside the base, the sources said.

One security source said the rockets fell inside the base.

There is no U.S. confirmation of an attack at this time, though the world remains on high alert following signs of an increase in hostilities in the Middle East. Israel, our closest ally in the region, may be facing a full-on war with Hezbollah, even as it tries to eliminate Hamas leadership in Gaza.

The base was attacked a week ago, as well. At the time, U.S. officials said the base itself had not been struck in the attack. That attack came two days after a military summit in Washington between Iraqi and U.S. officials.
