To be absolutely fair, Joe Biden has said a lot of things that are just not true. However, if this newly-surfaced video is Biden being honest, then perhaps there is hope that not everything will be ruined by 2024.
The Biden administration has wanted to rekindle an old flame in the Iran nuclear deal established by Barack Obama and undone by Donald Trump. However, there hasn’t been much of an opportunity for it, considering all of the issues the administration has had to deal with. Crisis after crisis have and are continuing to dominate their resources, so the Iran deal has been repeatedly pushed to the side.
A new report by Axios indicates that it’s dead – and that report is based on a video of a candid Biden moment where he admits as much.

Biden: The outcome is dead.
In a video obtained by me, Biden clearly says that he will not return to #برجام , but the US government will not announce for now.
This video, which is being released for the first time, shows the sidelines of the November 4 election event in California.

The soundtrack in the background is absolutely rad.
Anyway, here’s a breakdown from Axios.
Why it matters: It’s the strongest confirmation so far that the Biden administration believes there’s no path forward for the Iran deal, which leaves key questions about the future of Tehran’s nuclear program.
- In late October, U.S. envoy for Iran Rob Malley said that the administration is not going to “waste time” on trying to revive the Iran nuclear deal at this time considering Tehran’s crackdown on protesters, Iranian support for Russia’s war in Ukraine, and Iran’s positions on its nuclear program.
[…]
What they’re saying: “The JCPOA is not our focus right now. It’s not on the agenda,” a White House National Security Council spokesperson told Axios.
- “We don’t see a deal coming together anytime soon,” the spokesperson said, pointing to Iran’s crackdown on protesters and support for Russia in the war in Ukraine. “Our focus is on practical ways to confront them in these areas.”
This is a good thing, considering Iran is in chaos, the regime there cracking down on protestors who oppose the strict laws and authoritarian rule there. As the world continues to criticize Iranian leaders, the Biden administration absolutely cannot be seen as cozying up to them. It would be absurd, given their rhetoric on Russia and even domestic issues at home.
But even in an Iran not currently rocked by protests, cutting a deal like the last Iran nuclear agreement is an absolute disaster for the region, empowering the one nation no one else in the Middle East wants to see empowered. This is the right outcome, no matter how we got here.
Hopefully, the deal stays dead.
