REMINDER: We Shouldn't Be Defending Rod Blagojevich

This was a very weird headline to write.

Like, I feel as though I shouldn’t have had to write it ever in my life. Especially on a conservative, Republican news and opinion site.

Rod Blagojevich is a corrupt man who received a pardon from President Donald Trump. He was pardoned after spending years in prison for trying to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder. He was incredibly unpopular in his state, clearly corrupt as all hell, and yet, for reasons that escape me, he is being defended by vocal Trump supporters on Fox News.

Can we… can we not do this, you guys? Can we accept that Trump did this, for better or worse, and just move on? We don’t have to defend this by re-writing history. Here’s Townhall’s Guy Benson on why Blagojevich is unworthy of defense:

I don’t understand why we feel the need to knee-jerk defend a guy like him. He’s scum. He got pardoned, but that doesn’t make him less scummy.

Just because the Left and media would be critical of the pardon doesn’t mean we have to defend it. It’s not the best look on the conservative movement, and we should know and do better. So… do better.
