Disgraced ex-minister Jim Bakker made a bold prediction today on a TV show I didn’t know he still had. Upon finding out that there was a movement to impeach Donald Trump (one has to wonder what rock he was hiding to not know this already and why he isn’t still under it), Bakker predicted that Christians would just be coming out of the woodwork.
“If it happens, there will be a civil war in the United States of America. The Christians will finally come out of the shadows, because we are going to be shut up permanently if we’re not careful,” he said on “The Jim Bakker Show” in a clip highlighted by Right Wing Watch.
He also warned that Christians are in danger of losing their voice in American society.
“God says faith without works is dead. We have to do things, God has been standing with me, and I don’t know about you, it’s time for preachers like you, you’ve been doing it, to stand up and shout out,” Bakker told a pastor on the show.
I am very curious to know who on earth is advising Jim Bakker to make headlines right now. Because this is an age where dirt gets dug up and aired/re-aired before the whole world… and Bakker is a guy who has a lot of dirt.
More on the topic, though, this is the kind of insane, fringe rhetoric that Trump lovers seem to really get into, because it reinforces their idea that we are currently at war and must fight everything and everyone right now. And, while it is true that the very ideals of America are under assault from the far left, it’s not exactly a plowshares-to-swords moment for Christendom.
But, people are eating this type of talk up, and it just fuels the insanity that is currently surrounding us.
