TRUMP: "Polls Are Phony"

On a day where Donald Trump should be making the case to go out and vote for him right now, Trump has decided it would be better to ridicule and dismiss everyone who says he can’t win. This would include the polls that have consistently shown him down. According to him, every poll ever taken is “poll.” Via Business Insider:

In an interview with “Fox and Friends” on Election Day, the Republican presidential nominee insisted the national polls that show him trailing are intentionally underestimating his support, though as in many cases this election cycle, he did not cite any information to support his claim.

“I do think a lot of the polls are purposefully wrong,” Trump said, claiming that media outlets and pollsters were biased against him.

He added: “I think a lot of the polls are phony. I don’t even think they interview people. I think they just put out phony numbers.”

This would be the same Donald Trump that praised and worshipped at the altar of every poll that showed him (correctly) leading in the primaries. Many of those same polls are the ones that are now showing him down by 3-4 points. Polling can vary, yes, and sometimes they can miss things, but to say that all the polls are phony/rigged/in the tank for Hillary/spawn of Satan/etc. is to completely dismiss the science behind them – which has actually proven itself multiple times throughout the last several years.

Trump is very much against anything that doesn’t show him leading because it pierces his ego. He doesn’t like that. He takes it as a personal offense, and when he feels offended, he lashes out. We’ve seen it time and again with him. A poll showing him losing directly conflicts with his “I’m a winner! I’m the best!” world view. Reality has no place in his ego.
