A few nights ago, my wife and I watched a movie called "Rebel Ridge". As the credits rolled when the film began, it announced that the executive producers were Barack and Michelle Obama. I mumbled an F- bomb, and my wife asked, “Are we going to watch it?”
"Yeah, why not?"
Anyway, the film starts with a black dude on a bicycle. He has AirPods in his ears and he’s riding in the middle of the road. He is being lit up by a cop, but can’t hear the siren. The cop finally rams the bike, and the black dude tumbles off.
The black dude has $36,000 in cash on him, but has an explanation for the cash. But the cops in the township (other than one, overweight black woman) are crooks (and white). They are seizing cash from everyone they stop, and claim that it's a civil asset seizure on suspicion of criminal activity.
You might be well ahead of me in guessing the outcome. Black dude goes Rambo on the town, wins the day, beats the crooked cops, and rescues the only no-crooked white peeps. The overweight black woman cop is a desk jockey, but she pulls a pit maneuver on the sheriff's SUV, saving the day.
It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I had low expectations. Sure, the black dude does ridiculous Jason Borne nonsense, but at least he showed some kinks in the Superman armor. I watched because I wanted to see what type of stuff Michelle and Barack were producing. In that respect, it fulfilled my expectations.
Now, renowned, A-list Trump haters Larry David and Michelle Obama – and oh, and Barack – are teaming up to produce a sketch show, an alternate reality of America's history just in time for the 250th anniversary of the country:
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator and “Seinfeld” co-creator will act as executive producer, writer and star of the limited series consisting of six half-hour episodes, produced by the Obamas’ company, Higher Ground.
President Trump announced at the recent White House Military Family Picnic that the country will be celebrating America 250 in grand style all throughout 2026, as RedState wrote.
Barack Obama claims that he and his wife were about to launch into producing something for the 250th, but “then Larry David called.” The former president said of the coming HBO collaboration:
I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David..
Yeah, I’ll bet. Larrry David once told Alan Dershowitz that because Dershowitz had defended the rule of law during the first Trump impeachment trial, David wanted nothing to do with him. Ever. Forever. Dershowitz can defend murderer O.J. Simpson, but by God, defending Trump was a bridge too far.

David explained why he’s back for an HBO series:
Once ‘Curb’ ended, I celebrated with a three-day foam party. After a violent allergic reaction to the suds, I yearned to return to my simple life as a beekeeper, harvesting organic honey from the wildflowers in my meadow. Alas, one day my bees mysteriously vanished. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I return to television, hoping to ease the loss of my beloved hive.
Ahhh, ok. I guess there’s a joke in there. It's supposed to be funny, right?
Larry David’s old showrunner, Jeff Schaffer, will take part in co-writing and directing. Anyway, I have zero doubt that David will turn this into an America-hating, Trump-loathing, bash-a-thon. And I am guessing that Michelle will make a cameo appearance as Martha Washington or maybe Neil Armstrong.
What will the trio of gazillionaires use for a working title?
"Curb Your Patriotism"? "Curb Your Capitalism"?
What do you think? As David might say: Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
