…I heard ol’ Neil put her down…
Here’s yet another shut up and sing moment. Except in this case I might actually prefer to listen to Neil Young being goaded by a left wing blogger into bashing the NRA and spokesperson Dana Loesch. Nothing against Dana or the NRA but at least making uninformed political attacks won’t make anyone long for premature deafness.
Don’t shut up and sing, Neil. Just shut up.
Dana Loesch, an NRA spokesperson, has harbored a decades-long vendetta against Neil Young https://t.co/bpsz5C6kqg

Only someone completely devoid of musical taste could characterize Dana’s comments about Neil Young as “burning hatred” of a personal nature. There’s nothing personal about thinking someone’s singing sounds like a sickly camel falling on a family of cats.
Loesch has tweeted negative things about Young at least 15 times over the course of a decade.
Given the level of suck embodied in Neil Young’s voice, 15 times over a decade seems like Dana was being overly charitable.
When I tell Young this, he cracks up. “The spokesperson? That woman? She doesn’t like me?” he says. “Well, she’s one of the gang over there. Although Trump likes my music. He’d come to all my shows.”
He pauses. “What’s her name, huh? Well, I’m glad I got under her skin.”
Ear drums are made of skin, right?
To be fair, this is less about Young attacking Loesch than it is about a lame political blogger being unable to interview a celebrity without injecting partisan politics. Of course the decrepit hippie is going to hold left wing views. It doesn’t take a veteran journalist to tease that sort of thing out of a rock star. Hey I can’t think of anything intelligent to ask about music so let me stir up some crap in an already played out political narrative.
Everyone has performers whose work they love to hate. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. It seems obvious to me that Dana’s anti-Young tweets over the years are intended to be humorous (though I don’t for a second doubt her opinion about Young’s music is genuine). The left generally seems to be devoid of humor unless they’re laughing at unfunny stereotype jokes about conservatives and Christians.
These tweets are funny.
My stepdad likes Neil Young. I always thought Neil Young had the vocal tonality of a dying cow fart. He’s also hard of hearing. My stepdad.

Once, as a teenager & in a cast on my sofa watching TV, Neil Young’s “Downtown” came on MTV. I couldn’t change channel and cried quietly.

Had I won the Powerball I was going to pay Nickelback, Bush, and Neil Young to stop playing.

That would have been a great public service.
