Three Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers have been shot in a confrontation in the Lincoln Heights area of the city, just outside downtown. According to NBC News, the officers were attempting to apprehend a suspect who foot-bailed after a traffic stop when the suspect turned around and opened fire.
The suspect is barricaded, and the officers have surrounded the building as they are waiting for the SWAT team to arrive. The LAPD has declared a city-wide tactical alert.
The injured officers have been transported to County-USC Medical Center according to NBC-Los Angeles reporter Eliana Gonzalez. Their conditions are unknown.
