UPDATE 11:58 AM, 11/14/19: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials have confirmed that a second student, a 14-year-old male, has died, and that the shooter is in “grave condition” after shooting himself in the head. The other student killed was a 16-year-old female. While two different sources sent the Instagram account referenced in the original article to RedState claiming that it is that of the shooter, the account bio has been changed since publication and does not appear to be the shooter’s.

According to multiple sources who are parents of students in the the Hart Union High School district, the Saugus High School student who shot six of his classmates, killing one, has been declared brain dead at Henry Mayo Hospital. These sources also said that the shooter is on life support while law enforcement officials notify his family.
One parent told RedState that the shooter was well-liked and ran track for the school, but changed after his father was killed by a drunk driver “around a year ago.” The parent provided the shooter’s name, which we are withholding pending law enforcement confirmation.
The alleged shooter’s Instagram account contained a warning in the bio: “Saugus have fun at school tomorrow.” (Update: The bio has since been changed, and the account appears to be a parody account and not the shooter’s, despite two different sources telling RedState that it was the shooter’s.)
This is a breaking story. Updates will be posted as they become available.
