As Congress Clamors for More Epstein Documents, the Survivors' Atty. Puts the Kibosh on an 'Epstein List'

The drama over the release of the unredacted "Epstein Files" continues. In July, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) submitted his "Epstein Files Transparency Act," which he co-sponsored with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA). Massie and Khanna have now filed a discharge petition to force action on the act and force the Trump administration to disclose all files and information related to the Epstein case. In a Tuesday closed-door meeting of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the members heard detailed testimony from the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes. In addition, the Oversight Committee released a multitude of DOJ redacted documents ahead of the hearing.

In the midst of President Donald Trump's Wednesday meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki at the White House, Trump called this push for more files "a Democrat hoax," and deemed it a distraction from the eight consequential and successful months of his presidency.

Trump said, in part:

I understand that we were subpoenaed to give files and I understand we've given thousands of pages of files. I know no matter what you do it's going to keep going. And I think, really, I think it's enough.

At that press conference with the Epstein survivors on the Capitol Hill steps, the survivor's attorney, Blake Edwards, was asked: "Do you believe that Jeffrey Epstein has a list?" Edwards' answer illuminated what many people fail to understand about Jeffrey Epstein and his organization, and clarified the end goal in their quest for justice.

So there's not a list. Here's what it was. Just like you heard everybody today, Jeffrey Epstein created, through an organization of enablers, of people that were on his payroll, it was a complicated scheme where others should still be investigated because they helped to enable him and operate this scheme. Without those people he could not have done this. But the purpose was for him to personally abuse people. With that being said, certain of his friends, he farmed out certain of the women that he was exploiting, too.

So, sex trafficking, influence peddling, and blackmail were Epstein's primary aims. However, whether Epstein used the survivors to perform the last two actions is not yet definitive, as Edwards further explained.

But that wasn't the primary purpose of that scheme and I don't think he wrote the names of those people down. There's not a "list" of, "Hey, here's a list of all of the people I sent females to." That's just not how that organization works.

After the Tuesday oversight hearing, the Epstein survivors revealed that they will compile their own "list" of individuals involved in Epstein's crimes.

Victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein said Tuesday they are working together to compile a list of powerful figures connected to the disgraced financier after growing frustrated with the government’s handling of the case.

“A lot of us survivors know we’ve been compiling lists of our own, and we have so many other survivors,” Epstein accuser Lisa Phillips told NBC News in an interview. “Please come forward, and we’ll compile our own list and seek justice on our own.”

“I mean, I think that’s what’s going to happen next,” the former aspiring model added.

The Oversight Committee has subpoenaed additional records from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate and is attempting to arrange a meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's co-conspirator. Maxwell was convicted for her involvement in sex trafficking of minors and sentenced to 20 years in prison. She has appealed this conviction and is also seeking clemency from President Trump.
