While You Were Distracted by Trump, Republican House Probe Targets Biden's Ex. Secy About His Absconded Classified Documents

Amidst the 24-7 Trump indictment and arraignment coverage, there are still other important stories that are slipping under the radar. Perhaps deliberately, perhaps because these days the American populace has the attention span of a flea.

From the U.K. Daily Mail:

Joe Biden‘s former executive assistant visited the Capitol Tuesday for closed door questioning in the House Republican probe of the president’s handling of classified documents.

Kathy Chung, who oversaw the packing and shipping of Biden’s documents in 2017 as he ended his tenure as vice president, appeared for a transcribed interview with congressional staff.

She came after the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Kentucky Republican James Comer, demanded in a sweeping letter she hand over 10 years worth of documents and appear for questioning.

It comes amid a House Republican probe of documents marked classified at Biden’s former Penn Biden office in D.C., as well as his Wilmington home and his Rehoboth, Delaware beach house. Special Counsel Robert Hur is also investigating after being tapped by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

As my colleague Bonchie reported,

In a somewhat comical turn of events, Joe Biden has found himself caught up in his own scandal surrounding the improper possession and handling of classified documents. That comes after the current president chastised Donald Trump last year for much the same thing, asserting that he didn’t understand how anyone could “be that irresponsible.”

As RedState reported, no less than 10 classified documents were found at the Penn Biden Center in an office used by the now-president before he entered the White House. Because the Penn Biden Center wasn’t even founded until 2018, it is clear that the documents were transported there during a period when Biden did not have the legal authority to have them.

Since these January events, it’s been distraction-palooza. The media has been fast pedaling, trying to spin that Biden’s handling of classified documents is different from Trump’s. Focusing on Republican Rep. George Santos‘, Republicans pouncing, and all the ways that the evil right is taking away your “democracy.” Of course, Trump’s now present indictment and arraignment was more fodder for the mill to take your attention off the corrupt President currently sitting in the White House, as the U.K. Daily Mail inadvertently pointed out:

The development came on a day when former President Donald Trump, who is being investigated by Special Counsel Jack Smith for his own handling of classified documents, was set to arrive at a Manhattan courthouse to be arrested in the Stormy Daniels case while facing a 34-count indictment.

And guess who recommended Chung for the job of Biden’s executive assistant? Why none other than his dutiful son, Hunter Biden. According to a U.K. Daily Mail source, they had “worked together” at the Department of Commerce in the past. We all know how much work Hunter has actually done in his life, so one can draw their own conclusions about what exactly this “working” relationship entailed.

According to Rep. James Comer’s (R-KY) statement to the New York Post, Chung contradicted what had been told to the House Oversight Committee by the White House.

President Biden’s former assistant contradicted White House claims that classified documents discovered at Biden’s post-vice presidency DC office this past November were in a “locked closet” — and revealed the White House sought to quietly retrieve the papers, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said Tuesday.

Comer (R-Ky.) added in a statement that Chung, who sat for an interview with the panel, “provided startling information that undermines the Biden White House’s narrative on the matter.”

“Today we learned that when Joe Biden left the vice presidency, boxes containing classified documents, vice presidential records, and other items were stored in three different locations around the Washington, DC, area, including an office near the White House, an office in Chinatown, and eventually the Penn Biden Center,” the lawmaker said.

“At some point, the boxes containing classified materials were transported by personal vehicles to an office location,” Comer went on.

“The boxes were not in a ‘locked closet’ at the Penn Biden Center and remained accessible to Penn Biden employees as well as potentially others with access to the office space. We need to find out who had access to these documents.”

We do indeed. As this House Oversight Committee probe digs more deeply, legacy media should be ramping up the reporting on how the walls are closing in on Joe and Hunter Biden.

But Trump, and those distractions…
