As a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney, Jonathan Hatami has done his utmost to fight for the citizens of Los Angeles County and the victims of violent crimes. Hatami was the lead prosecutor in the infamous Gabriel Fernandez child abuse and murder case. He oversaw the successful convictions of the 8-year-old’s mother Pearl Fernandez and her boyfriend Isauro Aguirre for the horrific abuse and murder of the young boy. He was a star within the District Attorneys’ Office and respected among his peers.
That is, until the election of Soros-backed District Attorney George Gascón, with his special directives and soft-on-crime policies. Hatami immediately stood up and spoke out against Gascón’s policies, as our Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar reported:
If Hatami follows his conscience and the law and refuses to drop the strikes or enhancements, he’s subject to “discipline” by Gascon. Hatami tearfully told LA’s ABC affiliate Tuesday he just wants to fight for the kids. Of the situation he and others in the office are facing, Hatami said:
“A lot of DDAs (deputy district attorneys) are really scared. They are sending people to court to monitor what we say. They are working with the public defenders and alternate public defenders to intimidate us and document what we do and what we say.
“I just don’t understand why we’re not trying to prosecute child murderers to the fullest extent of the law.
“I believe that there needs to be some reforms, however, those reforms need to be based upon the law. They also need to be based upon the protection of the public. They need to be based upon the protection of children. They need to be based upon the facts of each case.
“I don’t want to lose my job. Unless they run me out of here or they take away all my cases, I’m not going anywhere. And I’m going to fight for all the kids.”
Hatami was threatened and targeted for retaliation by Gascón, and Hatami pushed back with a harassment lawsuit against Gascón in 2021. Many other Los Angeles County prosecutors followed suit, and one DDA Shawn Randolph was just awarded 1.5 million in support for his harassment lawsuit against Gascón.
Now, Hatami is fighting back in a different way: by running in 2024 to replace Gascón as the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami will announce Wednesday that he is running to replace his boss, George Gascón as District Attorney in the 2024 ellection [sic].
Hatami has been critical of Gascón and his policies since Gascón took office in 2020, particularly on his policies regarding special enhancements. Hatami has accused the DA of creating a hostile work environment, in which attorneys were forced to lie in court when dropping special enhancement allegations.
In 2021, Hatami sued Gascón, alleging that he’d been defamed, denied promotions and had his fitness to practice law questioned because he has been outspoken critic of Gascón’s.
Hatami made his campaign announcement on Wednesday at a press conference in Whittier, California.
“It has nothing to do with politics. It has everything to do with doing the right thing,” Hatami said in his announcement.

This really should be a no-brainer for Los Angeles County voters. After the Gascón Recall organizers totally disenfranchised the voters with their incompetent handling of the petition drive, this is a fresh chance to remove this activist district attorney and the trail of botched convictions, repeat offenders, and increasing lawlessness he leaves in his wake.
Gascón’s special directives have done immeasurable harm over his two years in Los Angeles County: one of the most harmful to date is the case of James “Hannah” Tubbs, who, when he identified as a male, raped a 10-year old girl in a Denny’s bathroom. While awaiting trial, Tubbs got the religion of transgenderism and decided he was now a female named Hannah. Shea Sanna, the DDA assigned to the case was suspended by Gascón for misgendering Tubbs.
Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Shea Sanna was assigned to prosecute James Tubbs for violently sexually assaulting a child in the bathroom of a Denny’s restaurant in Palmdale, California, in 2014. Tubbs was just two weeks shy of his 18th birthday at the time he committed the crime, but wasn’t caught until 2019 when his DNA was found at the scene of another violent assault, cracking the cold case. Charges were filed in 2020, shortly after George Gascón took office and instituted a blanket policy prohibiting prosecutors in his office from seeking to try any juvenile as an adult, for any crime, in any situation, even a situation like this:
Prosecutors say Tubbs walked into the bathroom of a Denny’s in 2014 and grabbed the 10-year-old by the throat, locked her in a stall, and put her hand down the girl’s pants. Tubbs stopped when another person walked into the restroom.
Even though the details of the crime were chilling, even though Tubbs was nearly 18 at the time the crime was committed, and even though Tubbs had gone on to violently assault other people, Sanna was not allowed to seek to try Tubbs as an adult. Since Tubbs was 26 when sentenced, the maximum sentence he could receive was two years in a juvenile facility — meaning that most likely Tubbs would be out within six months — and he wouldn’t have to register as a sex offender.
The icing on this turd cake: Tubbs was caught on jailhouse tape laughing with his father about the rape and how, thanks to Gascón, he wasn’t going to serve any time.
This is how little Gascón cares about actual victims and how much he cares about his radical agenda. If you’re a Los Angeles County resident who wants to see a change in D.A., support Hatami’s candidacy and vote accordingly in 2024.
