Journalist, and former beauty pageant candidate Carmen Maria Montiel is challenging Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (D-Dimwit) for her seat in Texas District 18. Due to redistricting, the demographics of the region have been upended. This area of Texas now trends Hispanic, giving Montiel an edge.

Jackson Lee is also a terrible representative and an even worse human being (see this Townhall article about what type of boss she is), so with the winds of change blowing in favor of Republicans, this could well be the year that Texans get a new representative.

The Texas primary is today, so if you haven’t already—get out there and vote!
